I play soccer in northern California where summers are dry and the ground gets hard. Many years ago I gave up wearing typical stud shoes because it hurts the bottom of my feet. After switching to a turf style shoe, I wondered why anyone wears anything else. There are almost zero situations where these don't provide enough traction, and they are so much safer, both for me and for the people I'm playing with. Getting stomped by a studded shoe is not fun.

Any way, these Diadoras are really soft, really light, require no breakin, and have excellent feel. I'm guessing that like all quality soccer shoes, durability is not the priority in the design, so I don't imagine they will last longer than a couple of seasons. It's too early for me to tell, but I'm going by previous experience with this calibre of shoe.

These are the best turf shoes I have ever had...and I've owned a few pairs. I originally bought the cleat version and loved them so much I came back for this turf version.

Personally I think they run a 1/2 size small, but the leather soon stretches so this is a non-issue. Overall a great shoe that is not cheap, but you really do get what you pay for.

This is my 3rd pair of Diadora boots, and this one certainly lives up to the quality I've come to expect, especially the K-leather on it. This is also my 3rd turf specific boots, and it's hands down my favorite for turf.

As for the fit, I see in other reviews that they had to go 1/2 size up. It's important to note that no two feet are alike. With that in mind, I found that like with all other Diadoras, I had to go 1/2 size DOWN for a good, snug fit. I typically wear 10 US, and I have a somewhat wide feet (not overly wide, just ranging from D to E). Going 1/2 size down to 9.5 on these had the perfect length, and while it felt too tight at first, the leather stretched in couple hours and formed perfectly on my feet.

One thing to note, as it was the case with all other Diadora boots I've tried, the heel is cut kinda low. This takes a bit of time to break in and to get used to. Another small downside is Diadora always uses cheap and ridiculously long laces, which isn't a big problem.

Lastly, I want to highlight the importance of having turf specific shoes. While some might disagree on this, I just found FG studs placed too much stress on the joints. Just couple of years ago, companies only made turf shoes on their bottom tier shoes. It's good to see more companies are seeing the prevalence of turf fields and are making upper end turf shoes.

This certainly isn't the newest or the flashiest one out there, but I imagine it will remain as one of the best options for turf. Definitely worth it.

Honest reviews on Diadora Men's Maracana Turf Soccer Shoe

I play regularly on grass, but it gets dry and like others, the studs wreck your feet. These are comfortable, light and work well. Maybe a little too much cushion in the heel compared to regular footy boots but still ok. My issue was that the very first time i pulled them on at the start of a game the lace snapped and frayed so much i couldn't even re-thread. Why would these relativley pricey shoes ruin a good thing by using very cheap laces??? Diadora not a smart move to cheapen out on this.

Note that they do also run quite small. I ordered a 1/2 size up and definitely needed it.
