Bought these shoes because I have been wearing Mizuno successfully for many years. I love the feel of these shoes and feel as though they put some energy in my stride. I am an over-pronator and like the support the shoes provide. My only complaint is they seem to wear rapidly. The rubber sole is actually quite thin and I quickly exposed the thin plastic wafer underneath. After about 200 miles, I had to replace because of how much sole was missing. I started to feel my risk increase of potentially rolling my ankle. I run about 40 miles a week so they did not last long enough to justify a $200 price tag.

I run about 4-6 miles on a daily basis. I have alternated between the Mizuno Wave and the Asics Gel Kayano. Due to early inner sock heel wear on the Asics, I have found the Mizuno is my shoe of choice. I recently decided to try this shoe and it is one of the most comfortable running shoes I have ever had. The shoe has no abnormal inner sock wear when I run and fits well. It is expensive but I have no regrets.

Had 3-4 incidence of severe achilles tendonitis in the past so I'm constantly looking for shoes with maximum cushioning and stability. I know that these shoes serve the heel-striker well, but being a mid-foot striker I figured the full length wave plate will also accomodate the mid-foot striker. I own several running shoes including Nike, Saucony, Asics, Brooks, among others but the Mizuno Wave Prophecy provided something the others could notalmost complete prevention of foot/ankle pain and discomfort. My other running shoes are great but usually after the 8th or 9th mile, I start to feel the pain/discomfort from the constant pounding and usually slows down after that. However with the Mizuno WP, after the 9th mile, I actually did not feel any foot/ankle pain or discomfort. In fact, I increased my speed and beat my personal record by 10 mins (12-mile run). I'm definitely looking forward to run on these during the actual marathon run.
Honest reviews on Mizuno Men's Wave Prophecy Running Shoe
After running a certain amount of distance (3 to 6M) 3 to 4 times a week, I feel a pain in my mid-calf. It's deep inside, even sensitive to touch.
However, after running with the new wave prophecy ( preuviosly with the wave 12) and continuing with the same religiously stretch the pain has reduce dramatically almost unnoticeable. Kind of pricy but well worth.

I'm a 5 mi./day runner but I'm sure I'll never run in any competitions. I have a relaxed pace and running is more for meditation and weight maintenance for me than anything else. At 48 years of age my body is riddled with osteoarthritis exacerbated by a competitive judo career in my 30's. After several years of neglecting my health my weight got up to 197 lbs. (I'm 5'8".) By low carb dieting and running my weight is now 154 lbs. The pain I experienced from running while being overweight was excruciating but I bit the bullet and kept with it (probably not the best idea in the world.) I heard about natural running being less abusive to the body so I ditched my Mizuno Wave Rider 12's (which I loved) and tried a pair of Newtons (Sir Isaac model.) Foolishly, I failed to allow my body the gradual adjustment to mid foot striking as was recommended and I paid with severe Achilles tendinitis in my right leg. I tried to run through the pain but finally decided to lay off for a few days. I saw no change in the pain so I said the hell with it and started running again. The pain was still there so I started scouring the web praying to find a shoe that would allow me to run through the injury. I read a review about the Mizuno Prophecy stating that an individual with Achilles issues like mine was able to run with minimal pain using this shoe. I decided to order a pair and to lay off running until they arrived (about a week.) The pain in my right leg hadn't subsided much at all by the time the shoes arrived but I decided to give them a try on the trail. I didn't think I'd be able to get more than a mile before the pain was too much. What a surprise! I used the mid foot striking technique with the Mizuno Prophecy's and the only discomfort I felt was in my left knee from not stretching adequately. There was not even a twinge in the right Achilles. I've logged almost 50 miles since then and I've run completely pain free every time. This afternoon I felt so good that I finished 5 miles and ran 2 more. I could've gone much longer but ran out of daylight. Mizuno has always been a great fitting and comfortable running shoe for me but the Prophecy is like a dream come true. Until now I hadn't run pain free in over 8 years. The combination of the Mizuno Prophecy's comfort and fit combined with mid foot striking has allowed a broken old guy to feel like a youngster. I felt such gratitude for this product on the trail today that I promised myself I'd share this experience. I'll be ordering another pair of Mizuno Prophecy's very soon. It's money we'll spent!
