After going through about 6 other shoes, this is the one I've settled on. I show all the symptons of an over-pronator but stability shoes I find too heavy and clunky. I've gone through a couple of shoes in the minimalist category including Saucony's Kinvara line and really like it. The change in foot strike led to personal bests in 8k and 10k runs but when it came to a half-marathon, it lacked enough support. I did set a personal best in that distance but I paid the price afterwards in soreness and my shoes graduated to "walking use only". The Mirage blends minimalist lightness and speed with stability and support to create an excellent shoe for longer distances. I am optimistic about setting another personal best in my marathon next week as a result!

I needed a replacement for a pair of the original Mirage. They were no longer available in my size, so I went with the newer model. This shoe is very similar to the original, so if you liked those you will probably like these.

If you aren't familiar with the Mirage, it's a good transition option if you are interested in moving towards a more minimalist shoe. I alternate between these and the Kinvara in my training. The Mirage have the same heel to toe drop as the Kinvara, but they are noticeably heavier, provide a little more support, and have a more traditional upper. I've run half marathons in both, so either one can hold up on longer runs. Overall, I prefer the Kinvara slightly (the lighter weight makes up for the extra support), but if my feet are feeling tired/sore before a run I go with the Mirage.

These are the best lightweight running shoes I have found that still provide support for moderate over-pronation. They have a nice, snug fit for my narrow heel. Probably work best for runners who have a mid-foot strike, but also more padding than a "barefoot" type of minimalist shoe.

They are a reasonable value for the money, and I have completed five marathons and two half-marathons using these shoes.

The only drawback to the Mirage is that it is not a particularly durable shoe. Runners will probably replace them more often than more traditional, heavier shoes.

Honest reviews on Saucony Men's Progrid Mirage 2 Running Shoe

Ran a half marathon right out of the box! Wasn't planning on running that far as new shoes go, when it hurt was going to turn around. However, never had to. These are great for a slight overpronator, light, toe box allows expansion, and just enough cushioning as I primarily run on concrete. Highly recommend this shoe if 6'2", 190 and a slight overpronator.
