These have a raised heel not sure the height but more than 1/2 an inch which is important to add flexibility.
I'm squatting around 370lbs at the time of this review and I find these to give a very solid base much more so than Chucks. The product description lists cushioning but that's only the insole which is very slight not squishy like a cross trainer & very solid with 300+ lbs on my back.
The raised heel lets me get full depth for overhead squats and snatching with out losing my balance.
I have wide feet the shoes were a little snug at first but they've loosen up.
Asics make quality shoes and these not exception.

Strong and very sturdy during my heavy lifts! Surprisingly flexible in the forefoot compared to other "Oly" shoes. Imagine a light-weight running shoe from Asics (top portion), with a heavy-duty Oly shoe base (instead of the cushionly, marshmallow-like base). This is my first pair of lifting shoes so I have nothing else to compare to . . . however I have tried on other people's lifting shoes at my Crossfit gym and they feel just as good, if not better. Also, they are not the best looking things, but I really don't care since I only wear them to do Olympic lifting and Crossfit WODs. However, I must say that I think that these do give me a slight advantage during my WODs because the forefoot flexibility gives me the ability to easily transition from Oly-lifts (C&J, Snatch, Overhead Squats, Power Cleans, etc) directly into jumping activities (double-unders, bar/barrier jumps, burpees, etc). The other brands of lifting shoes without the Asics flexibility may limit WODs.
I am not sure if they will last as long as the traditional Oly shoe brands, however, since the top portion is just like an Asics running show, which don't always last that long. But for the price, they just can't be beat.
Highly recommended!

i range between a size 8 to size 9 when it comes to shoes. 8.5 is a safe range for me, so based on reviews i sized down to a sz.8.It fits perfeclty, my foot is narrow, any fatter or longer and my foot would be struggling to fit in these bad boys, so keep that in mind when guessing your size.
i wear alot of vans eras if that helps. i can fit sz.8 van eras when broken in well and wear those type of shoes with comfort

Unlike most weightlifting sports shoes, these asics are stylish yet functional. The heel is very well supported for squatting and deadlifting. The fabric is breathable and easy to wash.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for ASICS Men's Lift Trainer Cross-Trainer
Decided to try these while they were on sale for $77.99 and glad I did! I use these for weightlifting and Crossfit and have been very happy with them so far. As opposed to dedicated weightlifting shoes, these have a flexible forefoot which make them great for some Crossfit workouts. These are a good option if you are on a budget or getting into weightlifting.
The only negative I would say is the color scheme is a bit crazy but I'm getting used to it. Something toned down/ subtle would be better.
