I am a huge Asics fan and only buy Asics running shoes/ trainers etc. I recently purchased a pair of Asics Arctic Gels as I am a avid walker and live in Northern BC Canada. The shoes are marketed as "designed to satisfy the needs of runners facing icy running conditions". I tried my new shoes out for the first time this morning, looking forward to my morning walk without having to worry about slipping on the ice. I was very much disappointed! The shoes are fine on packed snowy surfaces, but when you walk on ice it is like having a pair of skates on. The metal spikes (which actually are not pointed but are flat) give the shoes a skate like quality, making the shoes even more slippery than my regular shoes. I am so terribly disappointed in spending over $150 us funds to buy my shoes and have them shipped by Amazon as I could not find them in my area. The shoes are not for icy conditions at all! Quite frankly I found them dangerously slippery! I really wonder what kind of testing went into these shoes.

I love everything about them.....the color and comfort. I have only worn Brooks for the last 5 five but I thought I would give Asics I try and I'm glad that I did.

Loved the color. Didn't realize it was for outdoor use only. Fortunately, it came with an appliance for removing the studs. Now, I wear them all the time, every where!

I got these because I needed some waterproof shoes that I could run around in without my feet hurting. These are definitely way too expensive because they come with ice spikes, which I have never needed to use. You just unscrew the spikes. The soles are super grippy and textured so they kind of rip up my carpet. They are very supportive, although I still need to use arch insoles with them. For some reason, when I use the original insoles, I get cramps in my calves. They're very cute and have stayed new-looking for over a year. I love the colors. They're not as cushy as my other Asics, so that was a little disappointing. There's a lot of room in the toes. No need to order a size up.
