Replacement for my excellent Masochist I shoes (my first Montrails). The fit is good, but not identical to the Masochist I (which I bought instantly becuase of perfect fit to my feet) it's kind of difficult to put the difference into words.

Sizing is about identical to the old ones. I'm using it as everyday winter shoes in sub-Arctic Norway, and the grip on snow is excellent. On icy surfaces it slips, but that's to be expected (need natural rubber soles or even spikes for those conditions). They arrived after snowfall, so I cannot comment on general non-snow trail use.

For winter conditions, I'll replace the inner soles with warmer ones. (For long hikes, they may not be warm enough)

Overall, a good buy. Recommended.

This pair replaces the last shoes that were worn everyday for 14 months. They are very comfortable and the grip is superb even on ice, snow, mud and slippery surfaces.

I don't like hiking and backpacking in boots, so I look for durable waterproof trail runners with aggressive lugs on the bottom. These shoes fit the bill quite nicely. I broke them in doing around-town stuff and short hikes. This weekend I went backpacking and the heavens opened up on the way out. I had never had shoes with OutDry before (usually Gore-Tex in the past), but they performed well in driving rain, big puddles, and wet Northwest vegetation. The lugs on the bottom are nice on rocky trails.

I wear an 11.5 and they fit pretty true to size. The toe box felt a bit small at first, but after a short break in they feel perfect. No hot spots, rubbing, or blisters to report. I do wish the OutDry version came in the nice grey/orange color scheme the non-waterproof ones do, but fashion on the trail is secondary I suppose (or tertiary). I think the laces are way too long, so you have to double knot them or replace them, but that is very minor.

Honest reviews on Montrail Men's Mountain Masochist II Outdry Trail Running Shoe

Based on the reviews I read before purchasing the Montrail, I bought 1 size bigger and it fit as expected.

They are very comfortable and grip very well to dry soil, however, when stepping on wet tile, it became very slippery.

I haven't tried it under the rain to check waterproof resistance but I did try to drop a glass of water on it and it didn't get wet inside, but the real test will be under the rain.

In general, I'm happy with it.

I have an 11.5 Montrail Streak... the best shoes I have ever worn. With a narrow foot, it's hard to find shoes that don't gather and fold when laced up. And in Australia, I can't find the MM Outdry.

I did my research and nothing suggested the MM Outdry was significantly different. I even found a pair of Mountain Masochist version 1s, and tried them on. These fitted perfectly at size 12.

I used the various shoe size conversions available on-line. They all said the same thing: if you wear a size 11.5 Montrail Streak, then wear the 11.5 MM Outdry. If you wear a size 12 MM1, then wear the 11.5 MM Outdry.

The order arrived last week, and the 11.5 is too small. I have since found a pair of size 12 MM2, and they seem a little wider than the both the Streak and the MM1. As for the size...well, the length is the MM1 size 12.

So the moral is this: if buying from overseas, don't trust the on-line shoe size converters.

So it's hard to score this as anything but an own-goal by me. It's certainly not the fault of Montrail or Amazon.
