I usually run in the Kayano and Trabuco and was excited about getting this shoe for going out in the snow. The problem is that the toe box is a lot smaller than the other 2 shoes mentioned. It appears that Asics did not account for the volume that adding the gore-tex lining would take up. Also I was getting a weird pulling sensation across the big toe down towards the inner ball of my foot with each step.

Great support for insole. Fits my heel snug but not too tight. Good improvement from 2160. Shoe was still very supportive after 400 miles.

They are way too heavy. It feels like running with bricks attached to my feet. I had a bad Asics experience about 4 years back. This was a second chance, but it may be at least another 4 years before I try them again.

I was really excited when I saw these shoes; gortex and they were ASICS. I placed the order and was very disappointed. I've been wearing nothing but ASICS running shoes for the past 5 years and was surprised that the GT-2170 G-TX was a 'let-down'. When the shoes arrived, I immediatly tried them on only to discover that the width of the shoe was very narrow and materials seem to be of poor quality. My feet were not comfortable and the cushion seem to be 'sub-par' compared to my ASICS Nimbus. After 5 minutes of walking (indoor carpet), my feet were starting to feel sore. I returned the shoes for refund and will be looking at other ASICS models...something comparable to my Nimbus running shoes.

Don't be confused i am Ilicia's husband reviewing the men's sneaker!....Let me first say that the style of these sneakers is awesome. They look great and Darn it, I feel cool when they're on my feet! And They have pretty good water resistance. Great for the rainy day or the accidental puddle stomp. When I first Dawned these sneakers the cushioning inside felt like micro fiber. Awesome! So I thought. I wore them just to break them in and they felt great but then, I started to run with them on...The microfiber cushioning became like an oven, then feeling more like a hot wet sponge squishing around my sole. I almost immediately felt blisters forming. These Sneaks might be better in sub zero temperatures. I dunno. The ankle support was also lacking. I thought for 116 bucks that these would be the end all running shoe. I was disappointed. Goes to show you; sometimes more expensive does not mean the best. I will go back to the regular 2170's. They were great but the GTX did not live up to the price tag! On a positive note great going out walking around shoe!
