I decided to purchase these to break away from traditional shoes. I first looked at Vibrams of course and the Five Finger products although I hear are amazing were not for me. Their price is very inflated and for people like me who's pinky toe is not existent the Four Toe design is very welcome! It says they are not intended for running which I believe is their way of staying away from patent infringement and legal liability because I run in them and love it. It is important that you give your feet a break-in period due to the fact that they are so used to shoes and not the natural motion. For me the Skeletoes have been perfect. I never could quite find the right shoes due to my wide feet and small arch. If you're a hardcore marathon runner these are probably not for you, but if you are an active recreational user these are perfect. The extent of my competitive running is doing 5k's. For the price the shoes can't be beat, so if you're curious and want a natural feel for recreation or even everyday use do yourself a favor and pick these up. You won't regret it.

First, I'll start off by saying I was one of those that could not purchase the Vibram brand since my foot size is a solid 13 (not to mention I have extremely flat feet). When I saw the Fila model, I was doubtful at first because it looked like they were trying to make an off brand that could somewhat compare to Vibram; there are only four toe slots compared to Vibram's five toe slots. Even still, I purchased a pair.
Now, I've never had a Vibram pair (remember, my foot is too big) but I'm quite alright with my Fila pairs (yes, I have more than one). They're comfortable, supportive, and fit my foot just great. Not to mention they have a better price.
I know that a lot of people believe that you get what you pay for and that you need to buy the "real" brand in order to get your money's worth. Let me tell you, I'll be the first to debunk that theory. I purchased the first pair because I was getting back into the gym and was so impressed that I bought two more pairs. I don't have firsthand experience with the Vibram brand, but I'll support the Fila brand since they decided to make a shoe for people that have bigger feet.

These shoes are great, I wear them a lot. You aren't going to win any fashion shows, but for comfort, they can't be beat. These shoes are also good for sneaking up on people.
Honest reviews on Fila Men's Skele-Toes EZ Slide Shoe
The reason I bought these instead of the vibram five fingers is mainly that these are financially feasible and are four toed instead of five. I have tried five toed shoes before but they lack in comfort.
I wore these all day long to get a feel of them and at the end of the day I ran on the treadmill with these. Here is a list of pros and cons
Pros:
1) Snug fit.
2) Very light.
3) The sole contours to your feet.
4) four toes instead of five, helps if you a small pinky toe.
5) make walking and running a very novel enjoyable experience.
6) much cheaper than the vibram five fingers.
Cons
1) They are not at all water-proof. This was a big surprise for me. I landed my feet on wet patch of grass and my whole shoe sort of absorbed the water in, they did dry fast enough but walking was not fun in the cold weather. However I do not mind this as I am mostly going to use this while in the gym or running on a treadmill.
2) The size was snug, but a little too snug on my big toe. I felt a moderate level of discomfort while walking and running in them and that is the reason why I am returning them for a bigger size. I am a size 9 for regular shoes and it seems that I am size 10 for toed-shoes.
3) the finishing makes you doubt how long these will last. I can only tell after a use of about 6 months. Maybe I will update my rating later.
Overall will I advice someone to buy this product? Yes.

You get what you pay for. These are about one third the price of Vibrams, but, to me, at least half as good. I use the Filas for toddling about and Vibrams to run and lift weights in. They are much easier for me to don and remove than Vibrams. I will continue to buy both, but would recommend the cheaper ones for those who haven't tried this type of shoe. Not so easy for running, but good for the gymn and canoeing.
