Mizuno Men's Wave Nexus 6 Running Shoe Review

I am a runner of 35+ years and over 85,000 miles. I have a "neutral" foot strike and the Mizuno wave series is great for me. The Nexus 6 is awesome for medium to long runs. It's toe box is roomy and comfortable and the running life of the shoe is great.

I use my running shoes for only running and these last around 500 miles on road training and about 900 miles if you are a treadmill runner.

Got these about 3 weeks ago and have used them about 6 times. They are great out of the box and gets better with use. Just switched from Asics after over 10 years with different versions and am very pleased with these. I think I am a neutral striker with a normal arch and normal width feet. These are perfect for my current use 3 times a week for about 30 mins. Would love to go longer in them but time does not permit.

This is the second pair of the Mizuno Wave Nexus I have owned. I bought a different brand of running shoes after using my first pair almost a year. The other brand was just not as comfortable, though. I kept wearing my old pair of Wave Nexus shoes, despite them being completely worn out. I am glad to have gotten a second pair and happy to say they are as comfortable as the first! If you are a mild over pronator you will be extremely pleased with these shoes.

Honest reviews on Mizuno Men's Wave Nexus 6 Running Shoe

I have been running walking and schlumping about in Mizunos for about 10 years now and for sport I just don't think I could ever wear anything else again. Comfortable as hell and the right fit (admittedly, after 10 years I know the size I need). I have done the Boston marathon twice in mizuno running shoes, as well as countless other races, and I am hooked.

It is comfortable and has held up well for an occasional runner.

I appreciate the higher than usual heel but this can be subjective.

Reebok Little Kid/Big Kid Zig Flow RunningReebok Women's Zig Flow Running Shoe I am a long distance walker because these shoes are amazing. The construction supports an easy stride with a soft step. The most I've walked before is 4 miles. These shoes allow me to go 9, 10 miles day after day no foot rest needed. On the down side, Reebok has stopped making these shoes as well as the ZigFlow with similar construction. Get them if you can.

I'm an ER nurse and I'm on my feet running about 13 hours a day. I got on the Asics website and looked up what type of shoe would be best for me and ordered it. Today was my first day with these Asics and they were absolutely INCREDIBLE. They required absolutely NO breaking in period. I never once thought about my feet today and believe me I run at work. The support and cushioning in the heel was amazing, I fall heavily in the heel area in my stride. I was concerned about the snug fit in the arch at first but never once did they feel sloppy or loose after being in them all day. I would highly recommend these for people who are on the move and need great support. The only down side is the laces are too short.

UPDATE: After running in them three days per week for three months the heals of both shoes pealed completely off. They were good while they lasted but for $100.00 I expected them to last longer than 3 months with occasional wear. Not worth the money.

The shoes came in as discribed. However, after one month on normal wear, the bottom sole is starting to seperate at the heel.

This is the second pair of these shoes I've had and they are among the best I have ever owned. I do alot of aerobics, boxing and play racquetball and squash as well. They have alot of forefoot cushion which is the most important feature that I need. Great Shoe all around.

Honest reviews on ASICS Women's GEL-Kushon 3 Running Shoe

I contacted seller about this and have heard nothing back. In my opinion, these shoes are not worth the money I paid for them; let alone the seller wants to charge me shipping both ways again, which makes them SO NOT WORTH the total that would bring this purchase to. I am very unhappy, and now own a pair of way too small 8 1/2 shoes that are worthless to me, because they fit like a 7 1/2. Beware.

Overall it is an attractive shoe. It has style and still has the fuction as a running shoe. This is actually one of the first Asics color styles that I have seen that could actually be matched with clothing, as Asics back in the 90's and early 2000's were too bright and over splashed with color making them appear to us as kids "ugly".

The only reason I gave it four stars is because I will only give 5 stars to Gel Kinsei 4.

If you are in the market for good running shoes, Asics are hands down the best running shoes a person could spend their money on.

I hated these shoes for the first few times/10 or so miles.

Why 5 stars?

After I got used to them no shin pain no foot pain no knee pain!

I am active, swim us masters, love MTB/Road bikeing etc...

HATED running from the pain. Super flat feet and lots of roll.

A running store let me try these on, run with them said no. They insisted..

Many THANKS!

I can't even wear my what used to be confortable new balance anymore.

Its okay. I run a lot, so I was hoping it would give me lots of padding but still give a good fast feel. It is comfortable but not so fast.

Best Deals on Saucony Men's Omni 11 Running Shoe

I've run nearly 400 miles in a pair of Saucony Hurricane 15's and they are pretty great shoes, so when I looked for a replacement, I looked at the Hurricanes but then I remembered how much they cost. Runner's World has a handy tool that shows you "Shoes Like Mine," and the Omni 12 was on the list, but again, those are expensive shoes. Then I found these and reading online told me they were a lot like the 12's, so I figured I'd try them. I'm glad I did. They are almost as comfortable as the Hurrican but a little stiffer and lacking a bit of the softness throughout the foot bed. These differences are fairly minimal and I imagine they would only make a difference to you if you are seriously injury-prone. I have a mild case of plantar fasciitis right now and these shoes don't seem to make it any worse (or better) than the Hurricanes.

Bottom line: These are terrific running shoes, even for "larger" runners like myself. They are also an excellent value!

Honest reviews on Saucony Men's Omni 11 Running Shoe

Normally I run a 10.5 to a 11.5 so I had to guess at the size. Luckily the size and fit were perfect. I just recently started running and wanted a shoe that could absorb some shock as I was utilizing a minimalistic shoe when I ran. This product was a little pricey, but well worth it as you cannot take chances on injuring yourself. Overall ecstatic about the shoe!!!

I have worn Saucony for years. This shoe is cut radically differently than other shoes. The left shoe almost immediately began rubbing against my instep causing blisters. The width of the shoe is only a D in the sense of academic grading -it basically s*cks. Going straight into the garbage.

Now let me explain a couple of things here first: 1, I do not run unless I am being chased 2: I am not an avid exercise feind 3: These shoes are my work shoes and i am a nurse therefor I do not have any heavy duty usage out of these. I only asked for a couple of things i don't want them to feel like bricks on my feet and I want to be able to wear them for 8 hours without having my knees or feet feeling like I did a marathon (refer back to 1st comment). These are cheap (I like that) and they are easy on the feet. I usually don't change shoes very often so I like to have a pair I can depend on. These are very very good for the price, only complaint is no color at all, I mean none. White and grey, was the designer color blind?

Bought these shoes specifically for racing in the Asics XTrail, a trail race which includes various conditions dirt, mud, streams, rocks, 854m summit then descent, etc. They performed perfectly in all conditions. My buddy was racing with Salomon XT Wings and in the steepest, muddiest climbs, my Speedcross would grip and stick where his foot would slide. Outstanding traction. Did not get wet until many miles and many puddles and mud holes, and even then stayed relatively dry. They did feel like they got a bit looser once wet and I could have stopped to tighten them up a bit. Not by much as I opted to keep racing and not stop with no problems, including a steep, fast and slippery descent. I experienced none of the inner soles problems mentioned by some, for which I was a bit aprehensive. My only worry would be for racing on hot days, for which I would recommend you do not buy the climashield (CS) but the regular Speedcross version, which I haven't tried. My feet stayed warm despite a start and summit below freezing. Perfect for Fall/Winter races. Also the lugs do wear a bit faster on asphalt, but then you should not be looking at Speedcross if you're looking for road racers. Very satisfied with my purchase.

Best Deals on Salomon Men's Speedcross 3 Climashield Trail Running Shoe

I recently picked up a pair of these for running on the Appalachian Trail. I've gone through a few pairs of XA Ultras and loved every minute of them, but I wanted to see what the next level of specialization could provide. I really wanted to try some of those S-LAB shoes, but apparently Salomon has decided that those of us with size 13 feet aren't worthy of their efforts. Like many others, I'm lost somewhere in the transition to minimalism. I have a pair of NB MT10s but there's nowhere near enough armor on them to handle the AT. I figured this time I'd choose trail tech over heel drop for at least the winter and figure things out next spring.

First thing I noticed is that these felt a bit narrower than the XAs. A lot of people have reported not needing a break-in period, but that wasn't the case for me. It took about 50 miles for mine to loosen up and start feeling good. The Climashield does indeed run hot, but that shouldn't surprise anyone. The construction is excellent and well thought out. The terrain I run is pretty nasty and I've gotten my toes hooked under a few rocks and roots and there's been plenty of protection.

One of the main reasons I bought these was for the tread pattern. It's amazingly grippy on soft ground and makes running up earthy hills a blast. Works great on gravel too. Unfortunately, it starts to fail on larger rocks, especially downsloping slabs. Since the spikes keep surface contact to a minimum I end up sliding quite a bit, almost as if I were wearing golf cleats.

My biggest disappointment with these shoes has been the durability of the tread. After my first run only 9 miles (Snicker's Gap Buzzard Hill) 4 or 5 of the perimeter spikes sheared completely off. After each subsequent run I'd lose one or two more, and the inner ones are starting to show cracks. The sole is smooth beyond those, so there's no fallback. Once the majority are gone, which is probably going to happen soon, there's not going to be much traction at all. I'm not sure if I'm expecting too much, but every description I've read has indicated that these excel on rocky terrain. I guess their definition of 'rocky' is different than mine.

Given that, I don't think I'd recommend these to anyone unless they only run on soft ground. I can see the non-CS version good for mud/obstacle races, but I think you're still going to have the shearing problem. Had I bought these from one of the many retailers with unconditional return policies I'd have sent them back. Lesson learned.

These shoes work great. I have ran in snow, mud, cold weather, warm weather smooth terrain, and technical terrain. They are still great after 400 miles.Very comfortable shoe.

I typically don't write many product reviews unless something is really awesome or not nearly as advertised. First, I love the fit of this shoe. It's super comfortable, has amazing traction, and has a great look. However, they are definitely not waterproof.

Shortly after I got the shoe, I took my son fishing. The shoe fit amazing right out of the box. I "tested" the shoe by just dipping my toe in the shoe. Much to my surprise, my toes began to feel wet. I tried the other shoe and had the same experience. It's very disappointing since the reason I bought these shoes is because they were waterproof. I love Salomons, but this falls far short of my expectations from such a great company.

Don't spend the extra money for the climashield; just get the regular shoe. I wish I would've.

I am not a runner. I am a diabetic who is on her feet all day. I love these shoes. They are very light and flexible and have great ventilation. Because I have to take very good care of my feet, I am very careful about areas that slip, rub, or put pressure on my feet. These are almost like wearing slippers. I have had them for a few months and they still feel great and look great. I wear a 10 and the fit was just right for me.

I have to admit, I was extremely excited about getting these shoes. I am on my feet for 12 hour shifts with work and have several coworkers that have this style shoe. After MULTIPLE people gave them rave reviews I decided to get some for myself. The look of the shoe is great. The fit is a bit smaller than I expected. I wear a 8 or 8 1/2 in shoes but should have ordered a 9 in this one. Another complaint is that the tongue of the shoe slips to the side. I have to adjust it several times per day. These shoes also "eat" my socks. Again, I have to adjust several times per day. They also have a weird clicking noise when I am walking. All these things make me wish I hadn't purchased them or could at least return them. As I said, many other people have given rave reviews but they aren't the best for me.

My daughter love boots! We got her a pair of these years ago in a different color and liked them so much that we had to get another pair. These boots are prefect! They are warm, waterproof, comfy, and most importantly, the easiest boots to get on my squirmy 2 year-old. I've been running in the cold in Chicago for the past 2 years and I always have to wait until certain areas are cleared unless I want to be a daredevil and run on the streets: insanity. So after a few slip/falls (they hurt like heck) I purchased these with the spikes. Great shoes for what they do. They are heavier since they are trail shoes, so they don't feel like a normal pair of running shoes. With that being said, my feet and socks don't get wet or cold since they're water resistant (I'd almost say that they're water proof), and I don't have to worry about breaking a bone during a wipeout. I ran in 6-9" of snow today: my pace was slow but the shoes worked out great. It was a heck of a lot better than being on a treadmill on a bight sunny 25 degree day.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I'm posting here an enhanced version of a comment I left to a 2-star reviewer of the womens' model of this shoe. That review expressed some complaining about the efficiency of the spikes on ice. A 3-star reviewer, below, mentioned the same issues. Following my own experience with those shoes, I thought that these points of view needed some counterpart, so I decided to share mine here. This review is about the Mens' Gel-Arctic 4 WR.

I use these shoes to run in the woods in fall and spring, when the trails are muddy and/or covered with wet leaves, and for winter running, on tracks as well as on snowy/icy streets. In such conditions, I have found that spikes are a must.

Fall/Spring: The spikes do a wonderful job for trail running in the woods, climbing and descending very steep hills like a charm.

Winter: Though the shoes were perfect on snow, I had the same "slippery" experience some reviewers reported the first time I ventured on roads while it was... freeze-raining (!). Back home, I used a Dremel grinder and made X-shaped grooves on the "face" of the spikes, which are actually effectively flat. It worked really fine thereafter. But I didn't stop my experiments there. I easily found spare spikes for track racing shoes -they are pretty cheap and not hard to find at all, unlike what another reviewer said. They make those spikes in different shapes and lengths. Screw threads are standard. I chose the 3/8" length, pyramidal shape (not too sharp-would wear too fastbut still sharp enough and not flat). The result is absolutely fine. You can even find flat-head screws that fit in the threads, so you can plug the screw holes and run without spikes after the winter running season, or where/when spikes may not be needed or wanted. I really appreciate the fact that the spikes are replaceable and removable. (Also, for those interested, I also checked and confirm that the original "flat" 3/8" spikes could be ordered from my sports shop.)

Now, accelerating on purpose while climbing icy hills is just some kind of rewarding thrill, and the secure feeling while descending is absolutely pleasant when running on snow and ice. These shoes give me exactly what I expect from winter shoes.

I've had no issue with the water resistance. Fitting is true to size, toes are not compressed.

Note that they are a bit on the heavy side and thus are not intended for road race running. They are definitely trail/snow/ice running/training shoes that have been performing really, really well for me up to now.

Hope it helps,

Good running!

New Balance Men's M1080 Running Shoe Reviews

New Balance Men's M1080 Running Shoe,Blue,7 4E US
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

Yay! Partial redemption for New Balance with the 1080V2, after blowing it big-time with its predecessor, the 1080 (which we'll call 'V1' to avoid confusion).

New Balance had a SWEET thing going before the 1080V1, namely the 1060 Series (i.e. NB 1060 through 1064)... which were all more or less awesome shoes. Terrific shock absorption, great fit, very neutral, made in the USA, came in widths. Even usually had a few 'grown up' color schemes. 1060 Series was pretty much EVERYTHING you'd want in a shoe, or close.

Then New Balance decided to 'fix' what didn't need fixing. Result was the crap-tastic 1080V1.

The V1 somehow managed to be a neutral cushioning shoe that was neither neutral nor cushioning. The fit was still good, but the shoe's tendency to roll your foot strongly to the outside was ridiculous for an allegedly 'neutral' shoe, and this only got worse with age as the foam broke down. They also felt stiff and downright 'weird'. This was the shoe that sent me back to Nike briefly.

But Nike screwed the pooch too... the Vomeros I had were superior cushioning-wise, but they were also very high and narrow in the last (i.e. were 'ankle-breakers'), even in their allegedly 'wide' width (I take a 2E). Nike apparently likes to save money by using the same last in different-width shoes, only the uppers get wider, apparently. New Balance, on the other hand, will usually give you a wider last/platform in their wide shoes, as the shoe gods and common sense intended.

So okay, let's give New B another chance. Will they screw it up twice?

1080V2 comes out. Cushioning is improved over the 1080, though still not quite back to 1060 Series standard. But they're 'cushiony enough', and I like the low ride height, which helps keep me from turning an ankle on potholes/ruts and the like. Fit is generally good, tight enough in the heel to prevent slippage, yet there's plenty of width in the toe box... exactly the combination you want. Shoe is noticeably light too, hopefully this does not have any major implications for durability, but it sure feels nice.

But most of all, the 1080s actually do feel very *neutral* this time around. Am crossing my fingers that it stays this way through the life-cycle of the shoe. Have a feeling it will.

Criticisms/areas for improvement?

* They may have taken the whole 'fitted' thing too far in the ankle area. The collar of the shoe is quite aggressively/tightly fitted to you... some may like this, but it definitely annoyed me. Size-wise, I can wear either a 9.5 or a 10, and I chose the larger shoe just to get some relief from the aggressive collar. With the size-10s it's no longer an issue for me, and I can definitely see others choosing to buy these a bit large too. With the V1s and the 1060 series shoes, I was wearing the 9.5s.

* In the forefoot area, the V2s nail it in terms of width, but the amount of *vertical* room inside the shoe @the forefoot is a bit lacking. Again, another overly-aggressive stab at making the shoe extremely 'fitted' to you. And again, another reason to go a tiny bit large when buying this shoe.

* NB could up the cushioning slightly. These feel more 'bouncy' than plush, as if they used a more resilient foam with lots of 'recoil'. Is fairly cushiony even so, but the bouncy foam seems slightly harder on my knees than the plusher shoes I've worn. However, 'more plush' shouldn't be done if it will turn the shoe into a tall, high ride-height 'ankle-breaker' -type deal. But if it's just a matter of the shoes weighing a half-ounce more...

* Could use the tiniest bit more arch support. Are a tad bit too 'flat' front-to-back. Even a significantly inferior (but popular) shoe such as the Nike Pegasus gets this more right than the 1080 does, last I checked anyway.

* Needs a color option for grown-ups. Yes, the silver & navy color scheme is that, but it's only readily available in the UK, not the US. The three color schemes that *are* available here are varying degrees of 'almost, but not quite'. C'mon New Balance, many of your buyers are over 30 and aren't afraid to look it. In other words, you don't have to be a 'Nike' about this... you aren't hip, and that's what's hip about you. Just ONE fully grown-up color scheme, that's all we ask.

(editJust saw the color choices on the new 1080 V3, and sadly NB seems to have ignored the advice in the above paragraph... all 3 color schemes are varying degrees of getting whomped with the ugly stick. What's so hard about that ONE grown-up color choice, NB? Some of us not only run in our shoes but also like to go to work in them too. Sigh.)

Points for improvement aside, the V2's still a worthy shoe overall, and a vast improvement over the V1. I'm happy I got 'em in fact, I'm now on my third pair, and I may order a couple pairs more before they're sold out (in part to avoid the awful V3 color schemes =o ).

And if future 1080 versions fine-tune the 'fitted feel' and cushioning for the better, the unthinkable may actually occur... we might not miss the amazing 1060 Series anymore.

Well, at least until New Balance again 'fixes' what doesn't need fixing, of course. =\

I Purchased the 1080 V2 shoes at the same time as New Balance 610s. I intended the 610s for casual wear and the 1080s for running. The 610s crapped out within a month and a half (see my Amazon review). The 1080 V2s are AWESOME! I purchased these for running and they met the challenge. I'm 6'3" 240 lbs, a neutral gait runner. The 1080s fit great, were plenty wide for my super wide feet, were lightweight, and provided great cushioning. Perhaps my most favorite running shoe ever! 5 months in I still love them.

I am 260lbs and was looking for a running shoe that will provide me with good support but light weight, this is the shoe I was dreaming of. This is a shoe New Balance said is for a large frame runners and, it holds up to what the reviews say. Also the price was the best i could find off Amazon, thanks for again.

Honest reviews on New Balance Men's M1080 Running Shoe

I love New Balance products, so it pains me to give this one three stars. Although it seems to be made well enough...the sides by the outside of the balls of my feet "pooch out" when running or exercising in them.

I offer that these may be too lightly constructed. However, in all fairness am I a "big boy", so these may work just fine for a smaller, lighter person.

The fit was great though.
