Just received these yesterday and my son thinks they are cool.

My son plans to wear these with socks, but the awesome thing is that he can wear the shoes without socks.

Overall it reminds me of the Adidas Oscillation "clima cool" shoe, but with a thicker sole and more ridges in the sole. I like these better than the adidas oscillation.

The adidas oscillation is made up of fabric mesh, while this shoe is made up primarly soft mesh and water resistant material (think northface jacket).

This shoe is lace up (regular length laces).

The sole of the shoe feels and looks like "running shoe" grade, so that is a plus. I will see how long it takes for the sole to wear down, but I hope these shoes will hold out for a few months of wear and tear.

The front top of the shoe is made up fabric mesh which lets his toes breathe.

The back heel stretches outward.

The tongue of the shoe has a soft foam detail on it with the adidas logo, so I will have to see if my son complains about this digging into his upper foot. It's soft, so he may not.

I bought 2 pair. One for now and the other for later.

My son says they are comfortable, and thinks he will be the coolest kid in school with these shoes on.

I will update this review after a few months of use.

UPDATE (08/15/12):

After a couple of weeks of wearing, the shoe ripped. The mesh fabric detached from the waterproof material. I plan to contact the seller and see if I can get a replacement pair.

My son typically wears a size 4.5 to size 5 (in Nike), but these shoes run a bit big (like 1/2in. to 3/4in.)bigger.

The foam on the tongue of the shoe is pretty worn now--and over time I believe this will end up coming apart, especially if my son tugs at it really hard.
