I have had Planter Faciitis and Mortons Neuroma for 2 years. I have tried everything. Cortisone shots, Acupuncture, Acupressure, night splints, boot cast and about 15 different inserts including custom made.

I've been to 2 different doctors and physical therapy. I have been told to learn how to live with the pain or have surgery. Then I found these inserts. For me these have been the cure. I have been wearing them for 2 weeks straight. All day and all night except when I sleep,in athletic shoes that do not have a raise in the heel. My feet feel wonderful. I am probably 70% better at this point and I'm feeling better everyday. I just ordered my second pair and will probably order more as I buy more shoes. These are a great replacement insole for sports and walking shoes. They're not too thick so they don't feel awkward. I used to come away limping after too much basketball, but not when I use these. Just enough arch support. I tried a lot of other arch support insoles but none worked for me until I found these.

These are wonderful for tennis shoes as well as cowboy boots. I make sure I bring them along to try on when buying sneakers and boots. Hint: I put velcro on the bottom of these and then the softer part onto the bottom of the shoe. Let the glue set overnight. They dont budge when walking. I have two pair of this type and several of the terry cloth insoles, and also the 3/4 ones for heels. I dont go without this brand. Only ones with the metatarsal arch built in.

I have had regular orthotics from a podiatrist. I"m a runner with metatarsal pain and some arch problems (maybe I need to give up running?!). Anyway, this is my second pair and they have been great. Try them, for $20 bucks, you won't be sorry. Also, if you are a 1/2 size (for example, my running shoes are 7.5), then just order the next full size. You could trim them but I didn't have to.

Having committed to the New Balance 890 for over two years, it broke my heart to discover my favorite running shoe was no longer available. After reading dozens of sensational reviews about this being the best cushioning shoe for a neutral gait runner, I had to try it out for myself. Out of the box, the shoe felt like a dream support in all the right places, comfortable spacing in the toe box and decent arch support (I run with inserts anyway due to fallen arches).

Unfortunately, I took these babies for a spin and wound up with outer knee pain from hell. I average about 30 miles per week in my New Balance shoes with absolutely no knee pain or quad tension. 5 miles in the Asic Gel Nimbus left my knee screaming and my quads miserably knotted. The Gel Nimbus seemed to cause my foot to overpronate dramatically and ruined my natural running stride. The shoe also runs about a half size small. I normally run in an 8, but these shoes were uncomfortably snug.

My take: Not for use with inserts, and definitely not for anyone that has a tendency to overpronate. I replaced them with the Mizuno Enigma Wave (also a neutral cushioning shoe) and seem to be having pretty good luck.

I bought this shoe after it received rave reviews in Runner's World Magazine. In retrospect, I would recommend all runners who are going to spend a lot of money and many hours pounding the pavement in a running shoe to go to a running or sporting goods store and try on several pairs before deciding on a style. This shoe did not fit me properly. I am a neutral runner, which are the runners the shoes are supposed to be made for. However, when I ran in them, they caused me to underpronate, and after I advanced in speed and incline, it eventually gave me a quadriceps injury, which required a few days to recuperate from. I went to a running store, and they told me they fit right, so it wasn't that. I am not the only person who has had trouble with these shoes. Perhaps they would work best for overpronators.

I needed a shoe to replace my worn out Kayanos. I decided to try something new. I like these shoes. The soles have more cushioning than the Kayanos. I did have to go up 1/2 a size from my old shoes (about 2 yrs old), but the new Kayanos fit the same as these. I only gave these a 4 because the blue and purple colors make the shoe very ugly! They were however the only color choice I had.

I have been wearing the Asics Gel Nimbus shoe since number 9. It has been a very comfortable shoe. This shoe is fairly comfortable with the exception of 2 annoyances. First, after wearing the shoe for 4-5 days, I found at the start of the lacing hole nearest to my big toe, there is a tightness that is causing pain. I loosened the laces in this area to relieve the pain but now the shoe is not as supportive as it should be. The 2nd disppointment is that the heel cups are squishing down and despite repeated reforming of the material by hand, the heel cup remains too squishy and flexible to hold my foot in a secure way. Hopefully Asics designers will take notice and make adjustments for number 15!

I bought two pairs of these shoes since I do a lot of ultras and previous commenters noted that they run wide. The first pair has worked out quite well, I am a EE and they run around an E to EE width. I have run about 130 miles in them so far, including a couple of tough 50 kilometer trail runs in them, and they are holding up better than any of my previous shoes, give good trail feel, have good traction on a wide variety of terrain ranging from snow and mud to steep and technical ups and downs, and the rock guard offers enough protection that my feet do not get beat up. Temperatures for my runs have ranged from freezing with snow to dry and in the high 80's and the shoes have been reasonably comfortable throughout. When wet they dry adequately, but are not so porous that they let in a lot of dirt and grit. Now for the down side. I was so happy with the first pair that I bought a second. The first time I wore them, I went to tighten the laces and one of the lacing loops ripped out, so quality control may be an issue. That said, I will replace the defective ones with another pair and hope they are as stout as the first pair. If the second pair had not ripped out I would have rated them a 5 out of 5.

Update I have two pairs of the Sparks and now have several hundred miles on each pair of them, including running the 2012 Western States 100. After Western States, my feet were still in good shape, with no black toenails, and only three minor blisters that I didn't discover until after finishing the race. Also, no bruising of the soles of my feet. I am still very happy with them, and they are wearing better than other shoes I have used. I do agree with another reviewer that the lacing loops could be improved, but they are holding up so far. on these two pairs.

The combination of firm cushioning, 'medium' heel-toe drop, and a wide toe box with a low arch make this shoe nearly perfect for me. I ran in the New Balance MT101 for a few years, and really liked that shoe but found it to be a bit too minimal for longer runs. The Spark has a similar last and a very similar outsole (very grippy, but not very big lugs), but has better foot protection and more support. The shoe is quite light, while feeling solidly built with a well cushioned tongue and heel. I have about 120 miles on them so far, including two 20+ mile runs, and they look brand new apart from slight wear on the forefoot lugs. A+.

I'm a little over 70 miles into these shoes, including my first 50k. I've run extremely dry/dusty trails, rocky logging roads, and just recently through some wet and slick sections. So far no complaints, I was looking for a shoe with less than the typical 10-12mm drop, and at 6mm these seemed a good step in that direction. I was little worried about not getting my feet accustomed to them before my race, but after about 35 miles I felt like they were part of me. No break in period that I could feel.

I came from a pair of (slightly too small) Montrail Mountain Masochists and realized I needed something better fitting for the 50k. If I'd had all the time in the world, I would probably have gone with the NB MT110's, or Altra Lone Peaks, but I didn't want to try going from 10mm drop to 4 or 0 so quickly. I'm glad I went with the Sparks. I have what I like to call "ogre foot," wherein the middle section of my foot bulges out way more than my toe toes, and it's tricky to find shoes that accommodate that well. I tried on a lot of trail runners, including the Brooks PureGrit 2s, NB MT110s, Brooks Cascadias, and Saucony Xodus 4.0s. The Cascadias and MT 110s felt pretty good width wise, but the former was too much shoe, and the latter was too little. PureGrit2s were too snug in the mid, and the Saucony's were 4mm drop AND felt a little overbuilt.

The Scarpa Spark Trail shoe is the best trail racing shoe I've worn in the past eight years. These shoes command the frontier between serious minimalism and super-lightweight protective shoes. I ran a great 50km race on 95% single track, and while I posted a PR, I'd say that was about as far as I's like to run in them at race speed in one day. They provide great balance and support but not a whole lot of shock absorption.

I have 300 + miles on my Sparks now they have held up extremely well, including the sole. I have raced 50K Ultra's with them, and cannot imagine running in another shoe. The comfort they provide and the light feel are perfect. At first I thought they were a bit wide, but I simply laced up a bit tighter and problem solved. The shoe has held up the best to wear and tear better than any other trail shoe I have owned after 300+ miles. My only one complaint would be the laces want to come untied, thus I double knot no big deal. But those laces that come with some shoes that are thick and thin to keep from untieing would be the only improvement I can think of. I was leary that a light shoe would not have enough cushion, as I run on rough rocky dry terrain typically but they again have performed perfectly. Scarpa absolutely hit a home run with these. My prior shoes were Mountain Massochist's those seem like a tank compared to these, and those wore out much quicker then these. The other reviewers who posted saying they have had problems, I have not experienced. And if someone runs 10 miles in them and then posts a review can't really give a valid review in my opinion. Not saying other reviewers here have done that, but I always get a chuckle when someone reviews a running shoe yet has ran in them once!

I have really tight calves (an extension of my very tight hamstrings) and the zero drop seems to help stretch them out as I run. Also it's amazing how sore my feet were after the first run! Review of Inov-8 Men's F-Lite 230 SMU Cross-Training Shoe

The shoe is constructed well, is light, stylish and comfortable, and should perform as expected. Unfortunately for me, there are 2 areas of concern:

1. The last is narrow (similar to Puma shoes), and so I had to order a size up (based on feedback from others). While the shoes fit all right, the shoes toe is quite long and tends to stick out. This is a but of an issue while running, so people with broad toes do take note.

2. The toe-box is also made from a material (almost like stiff textile) which tends to collapse/indent where pressed a bit strange, and quite regular since the toe is long and the foot does not sit there (refer to my earlier point). This is not a performance issue, but cosmetic in nature, still not expected in a quality shoe.

I have an average size foot and usually can wear shoes right to my size, but i found the Inov-8 F-Lite 230 to be a 1/2 size too long. Plus they are very narrow and squeeze my foot. Totally unwearable. But they are super light and have some great design. So if my feet were thinner then I'd definitely return for a 1/2 size smaller than I normally wear. I'm sad they don't make them wider. They look great.

I love these shoes. I have flat feet and scoliosis and I was getting tendonitis since I do bootcamp. I switched to ascics and they just caused me to get severe hip pain. I couldn't run for 3 months. Someone from my bootcamp who also does crossfit recommended the Inov8 and a few days after no more hip pain or tendinitis. I have been using these now for a couple of months and I feel great in them. I came across this article which explains why pain is diminished with barefoot or minimalist shoes.

He has the 10/11 size in the santa cruz. They are just a little bit to small. The 12/13 are too big. The sizes are to drastic of a jump. There should be more of a happy medium in the croc sizing. I bought these for my 2 year old. He is able to put them on by himself, and because the velcro is only on one side, it is rare that he gets them on the wrong feet. He can easily tell which is left and which is right. They are adorable and we get lots of compliments on them when he wears them. They have held up with only slight wear for 6 months of use; we will be ordering the next size up!

Do not buy these shoes! I bought these in desperation as my usual Nike faves were not available. If I had realized they were one of Nike's "shox" series I never would have purchased them. WAY narrower than standard Nike's, practically all plastic, including the sole, which has absolutely no rebound. There is no roll, rebound, or flexibility in these shoes. The materials started to fall apart after one week. Do yourself a favor and buy another style. Stay away from these! Gave 1 star because I couldn't give zero.

I am (or was) a huge Merrell fan. I have Merrell hiking boots, tennies, sandals and thongs. I've always been impressed with their sizing and workmanship. This summer (2013),I ordered the Lorelei Emme, along with a Merrell sandal and a thong and sadly ended up returning all 3! In regard to these Mary Jane's, the footbed still has the same good old Merrell fit, but the upper materials look and feel cheap compared to my 2011 Mary Janes. Most importantly none of the stitching inside the shoe was finished off so even without walking it felt scratchy and uncomfortable. If it was just this pair of Mary Janes that didn't work out, I would have thought it was a fluke, but I have similar complaints about the other 2 pairs of Merrell's I purchased. I'm so disappointed!

The Merrills Lady Siren Breeze shoes are advertised as waterproof. They are not. The shoes are comfortable and fit well. I wore them out to walk the dog in the morning. My walks take me through dew laden fields of grass. My feet got wet because the shoes are NOT waterproof. I am disappointed and furious. These shoes are expensive and not as advertised. If you want waterproof shoes, look for another brand or another style.

I have been running in the Mizuno Wave Rider for several years and loved it for the fit and its minimal weight. But putting these shoes on was like walking barefoot (in the best way possible). I wear a size 8 in normal shoes and usually buy a 9 in the Wave Rider, but this pair in the 9 was too small and scrunched my toes. I returned them for a 9.5 and they are absolutely perfect. My new favorite, hands down. The new version is even lighter, but they look like clown shoes to me, so I'll buy as many pairs of these as I can to stockpile before the model vanishes. I will say that since I started running in lighter weight shoes, many of my knee aches have gone away. This feels like a more natural fit to my foot without going completely minimalist.

I am a very picky gal regarding shoes! I usually like cushioned shoes like the Asics Cumulus, Saucony ride/Guide or Asics Nimbus. I have always wanted to try a lightweight shoe, but did not know which one to try. Well, I have tried a bunch and almost gave up trying on shoes until I ordered this one on a wim. I could not be more pleased! At first I thought they were not cushioned enough, but I decided to give it a day or so and run in them. I now think they are the best shoes ever. I think they are my new "go to" running/everyday shoes. It don't even think I have shoes on. They are so comfortable. I would recommend to anyone. I have a wider foot and went up a 1/2 size for these shoes from my normal sizing since they do run small. They fit perfect and they seem to hug my foot in a medium weight sock. Love them!
