I tried on these shoes at a local store and then ordered them online. I definitely recommend that to anyone considering them. These shoes are quite different from the others I've worn (other Sauconys, Asics, and most recently the Brooks Ravenna). Besides being relatively lightweight overall, the uppers are made of this see-through fabric and a mesh with relatively large holes. They also have a smaller heel-to-toe drop than most running shoes.

If you're looking for big, cushy shoes, these are definitely not for you. On the other hand, if you're a true minimalist runner, these won't work for you either. I haven't even attempted actually running barefoot, other than in my carpted house. I did try on the Brooks Green Silence, and they are much lighter and less cushioned than the Kinvaras. So I would consider the Kinvaras a bit of a transitional shoe--if you want to try minimalist shoes, running more on your forefot than heel striking, these would be a good way to experiment with that. It's also probably a good idea to wear these for shorter runs at first, especially if you're used to a super-cushioned running shoe.

All technical talk aside, these are some very cool-looking shoes (I got the green, which is a discontinued color) and surprisingly supportive for minimalist shoes. The box is made from 100% recycled material and is 100% recyclable. It is printed with soy-based ink.

I haven't run much in them yet, so I can't comment on that. My goal isn't really to completely switch over to these shoes, but rather to use them to help improve my running form. I do seem to land more on my forefoot anyway, so hopefully these will get rid of the draggy, heavy-heel feeling I sometimes have with more traditional shoes.

I now own two pairs of Kinvaras original and V2. I have been running for over 30 years, and have worn most every kind of shoe. Before these I was wearing stability type shoes, but every morning for the last couple of years when I got up my feet were sore and cranky. Since I switched to these that pain has gone away entirely.

Get them big enough to wear some good smartwool socks with them as someone else said, it's not just what's under your feet that's minimal the upper is quite lightweight/porous and my feet have occasionally been cold. On the plus side: I ran in the rain yesterday, and they get wet quickly but don't really "hold" water. No squishing or extra weight.

As always, I LOVE Saucony. They make the BEST running shoes. I wanted to go from a neutral shoe to the newer trend towards minimalist running shoe. This is a great shoe for that purpose. This shoe will develop muscles in your feet more so that later neutral running shoes and will work towards gait improvement. ADVICE from an Exercise Physiologist. Save your older (but still in decent shape) running shoes to switch back and forth between with these. Your feet, ankle, & calf muscles will need a break as they get used to and adapt to this new style running shoe.

This is the first pair of running shoes I've ever purchased, a reward for completing my first 8K. They are wonderfully comfortable, incredibly lightweight, and aren't bogged down with unnecessary cushions or springs or what-have-you. I tried them on at the suggestion of marathon/half-marathon-running friends. They let your feet do the work. I don't ever have to think about them while I'm running, it's like I'm running barefoot (which is perfect for a woman whose other shoes are Birkenstocks). Great shoe, I highly recommend them.

I admit I have not taken these on a long run yet. I just retired a pair of Nike Frees because my ankles were starting to ache and the 150+ miles I had put on them was obviously enough. These arrived in the mail yesterday and I really like them. The shoe is very light what I liked about the Frees. However, the toe area is definitely roomier. I also like that the bottom just seems more durable. It doesn't hurt flexibility or lightness, but definitely adds something in the way of support without adding inches in foam. I look forward to taking these on a long run and training in them. They definitely seem more durable than the Frees.

UPDATE! I just took them out on a 4.5 mile run and they were great. Light in the right ways yet more stable in the ways I needed. They are less flexible than the Frees so my ankles are adjusting, but overall I feel much less jarring wearing these and it was exactly what I was looking for.

Several weeks later update...well, I am concerned these could be causing me issues. I am starting to have heel issues on my right foot. I have never had this before and I think it might be PF. Now it could be my increase in mileage or it could be the shoes. I ran with the Nike Frees today and didn't have the pain while running I was beginning to have with these. I am hoping it is not the case because I really like them....
