I bought these shoes as a last minute decision and had them shipped overnight so I could use them at Disney World. I have been walking around the parks for 4 days now and I can't believe how great my feet feel. I have been averaging around 25,000 steps a day. I had never heard of Salomon until coming across the Gecko. I took a chance based on favorable reviews and couldn't be happier. They fit and feel great even without socks. I did have some near blistering at first but had been wearing flip flops all summer. After my heels adapted to wearing shoes again, they fit like a glove. I rarely rate something five stars and this is no different. I took away one star because of the finger loops. The one on the back should be turned 90 degrees so it's actually useful well pulling it onto your foot. The one on the front is nearly useless since it's on the flap that velcros to cover the quick-lace system. So, if I pull on it, I fear I will eventually distress the stitching holding the flap one and possible tear it off one day. The quick-lace system is genius though. Wish all my shoes had them. I was highly skeptical about an all-terrain shoe that is both waterproof and comfortable.Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised with this shoe.
It's not as comfortable as a normal running shoe, BUT considering the shoe's utility, it's very comfortable.
If you're around water quite a bit; rafting, kayaking, tubing, fishing, trail running this shoe is a must have.
