I write this review in hopes it helps someone out there with Plantar from running.

I bought a new pair of running shoes about a year ago and they brought-on Plantar. Every time I ran I had terrible heal pain afterwards. I love to run, but had to give it up. Two years later I tried running again, surely the problem would have been healed? Nope, it came back immediately.

Getting a little fed-up I started trying all kinds of insoles and inserts expensive professional ones, cheap ones, lots of cushion, some arch here and there. On my 6th try I tried these.

After slowly starting running again with some lingering pain, letting it heal, running, healing, etc, I'm happy to say the onset of pain is completely gone after 3 long runs.

If you need a little arch and have heal pain, this is worth a try.

Yah, running again!

Comparison of Massaging Gel Sport vs Active Series

Active Series is/has:

Slightly narrower, but still medium width (noticeable in forefoot)

Better arch support (medium vs. medium low)

Better/Firmer road feel (stable vs squishy)

Tiny bit less cushion

The Active Series is a significant improvement over the Gel Sports. The triple zone protection incorporates the standard foam for the body, higher density foam for the forefoot, lower density for the heel, and a better designed and slightly higher arch plate. These changes eliminate the squishy road feel of the Gel Sport insoles and give a lot of confidence when making lateral cuts or other direction changes. Easily worth the extra money for ball sports (i.e. basketball, football, soccer, tennis), possibly the Gel Sport Insoles are the better value for jogging/running (forward motion only).

9.5M, slightly wide foot, low arches.

2 pairs, 12-16hrs tennis, jogged approx 0.5mi, light weightlifting

Both pairs had a right shoe squeak that went away after a few hours playing tennis (baby powder under the insole works too).

I'm a user of custom orthotics, so I determined the best review would be one comparing Dr. Scholl's Active Series to custom orthotics as well as the standard insole. I got into custom orthotics when I was running distance, but I don't use them much anymore. If you're not aware, custom orthotics are insoles provided by your podiatrist (foot doctor), and are made specifically for your foot based on testing done with various observations and equipment. It isn't ridiculously complicated, but it produces an insert that basically forces your foot to "land" properly as you run/walk. With my insurance, I pay $150 out of pocket for them at the end of the day.

On to the insole review:

I wanted these insoles for my hiking/tactical boots. I wear them about 12 hours a day on certain days, so I needed something to bolster the current comfortability of the already comfortable boots. Here are my observations:

My boots are size 12, so I bought the 10.5-13 size. They were about perfect, I didn't cut anything. I would guess size 13 would leave space... smaller would have required trimming.

The insoles added cushion for sure, more noticeable in the toe, but some in the heel as well.

The insoles made the boots fit really tight, due to the added volume (yes, I removed the original insoles). My foot got used to it, but I think it is too tight, and no amount of lace work would remedy the problem..

The arch support was over the top... I could feel the padding pushing hard against my arch (it wasn't just... there...)

This is an aftermarket insole made for the masses. It will add cushion, arch support, and volume to your shoe fit. I think the added volume is too much, and offsets the comfortability of the added cushion. The arch support is a bit too much for my foot. It may work for yours.

Bottom line observation:

If you need added cushion and lots of arch support, this may work for you. You will also need some space for the added volume this insole will require. If you are getting shin splits, precompartment syndrome, back problems, knee problems, pay the money and go see a podiatrist. This insole will NOT fix problems with pronation (walking on inside of foot) and supination (walking on outside of foot).

As a disclaimer, I don't think Dr. Scholl's inserts are designed or meant to replace custom orthotics. They're meant to add cushion and offer a better solution than a standard insole. They may work for you. They're not for me, I'm going back to my standard insoles.

Hope this helps.

This are great insoles and I could definitely feel them make a difference in shock absorption while running and doing box jumps. Liked them so much I started wearing them in my regular shoes also.

Work great but if u have low top shoes than it will feel weird because the insoles are thick. You do get used to it but it takes awhile.
