I headed to my local Fleet Feet store to pick up a certain pair of Brooks running shoes that I had been wanting. I described my foot aches and pains and said I was looking for more cushioning. The sales person (who was also the owner) came out with both the Brooks and with these and said simply, "Try them." I admit they were a bit homely looking to me at first, but since comfort comes above all else, I put them on. I went outside and ran around the building. Honestly, it felt like with each stride, someone was setting my foot down gently. It sounds strange, but the cushioning was great. The shoe was also responsive, so it doesn't feel like running on sand. There is more cushioning in the forefoot than I've ever felt and it seemed to take the shock out of every step. I was impressed. I even put one of these on and one of the Brooks on the other foot, and ran again and again. My foot felt more stable in the Montrail. The whole foot landed nicely and the shoe rolled well. The Brooks shoe I had my eye on suddenly wasn't the shoe I wanted any longer.
These are for road and trail. They are not heavy. Soft inside and comfy material. I needed to size up an extra half size, but the shoe was comfy out of the box. There's plenty of room up front for your toes to spread out, which I really like. I put these on when I got home and went for a run. They were great and I look forward to wearing these and providing feedback to the store the owner also wears them and he was so impressed that he proudly recommends them to his customers. I got the blue and they are actually a pretty shade when you are outside not as homely looking as I thought they'd be.

I love these shoes though I am not crazy about how they look. These shoes are great for city walking and for hiking. I have been searching for shoes that don't make my feet hurt after I walk and this is the only kind that work for me. I bought them at a local running store. They told me I need good cushioning and that I pronate some and have high arches. They said the stiff shoes I had been wearing were not right for my feet. These shoes almost feel like part of my body. They feel so good. I can walk in the city and hike in them without any pain. I forgive their looks because they feel SOOOOO good on my feet.

I received my beautiful runners... but they are def heaps too small :-( So... yes, they would be very comfortable if you order the right size, which is at least half a size up. I have ordered many runners and walkers in size 10, but these are def not true to size. Very unfortunate as I was so keen to wear them, but ok, this can happen.

I can wear this shoe comfortably without my orthotics if I forget to insert them. This is a stable shoe with a bit of a narrow heal but roomy toe box. I am NOT a runner, but am a teacher on my feel all day long, and these keep me happy.

This is my third pair of Fairhaven's and I love them. I wear a 7 1/2 typically and that is exactly what fits me. They are a great road to trail shoe and fit so comfortably.
