this creates tremendous wear on the sole. my other running shoes wore out (lost of thread wear) after three months (450 miles)
the Alvord 10 lasted about 5 months (750 miles)
that is 300 more miles than other shoes.
additionally, the rubber delivers good traction, especially good for running on wet slippery pavement.
the only negative of this shoe: poor aesthetics. i only wear it for my run.

I've owned these since November 2012 and wear them almost daily . I was a bit sceptical about getting a Nike pair of trail runners rather than vibram or merrel, but I'm pleased I got these. Every time I look down at them it amazes me how good they look after what I've put them through. They have gotten muddy wet scratched scuffed and scraped even poked with various life corners and peaks. The colors of the fabrics still look incredibly clean and bright . The entire shoe has a snake skin like texture not shown in pictures, this detail makes them look great. I wear these with tactical pants blue jeans and even shorts they don't feel to big and they feel super comfortable. Now as far as the trail running its great the sole is thick and cushioned in all the places you would expect. It honesltly feels like a durable quality shoe and it looks great. I was scared it was going to look like a mundane pair of black nikes but all the small athestics and details make them look elegant yet rugged and durable .Best Deals on Nike Men's Air Alvord 10 Trail Running Shoes
Very lightweight, but rugged build. I run to wide shoes. So a 13e was in order. These are perfect. Wide, without being way to wide. They breath well. Are very light, have great support. The toes are not bunched, yet the shoe is snug on my foot all the way around. Very comfortable. The soles on these feel like walking in Crocs. Which is to say, very soft and form fitting, yet offering good support of the arch.
Very, very happy with these shoes.

1/18/2013 (see 7/2013 update below) I originally bought these in a local department store the problem I had was my fat feet I am a size 12 or 13 triple Wide or what is better known as a 12or13EEE. The ones I got at the store were only a 13D so after 1 day of wearing them around the house I just couldn't take it anymore. The ones I bought from Amazon are a 13EEEE width and they are still slightly snug so be aware that they could run a little small.
The front toe box is, well, very boxy, so there is plenty of toe space for those who don't like their toes all bunched together in a pointy shoe.
The platform is incredibly stiff and flat so if you are looking for a softer feel this isn't the shoe for you.
The construction seems to be of high quality but there is an issue in the interior. The tongue is held its entire length by a strap on either side. For me this means almost always catching my toes on the leading edge of this strap while putting on the shoe.
7/15/2013 It is now just over 6 months later I have been wearing these almost every evening after work and most of the weekend. The shoe foundation has softened up but not to the point where I need to replace them.
