My favorite shoe and the one that works best for me was the ASICS GT 2160. I also have worn the GT 2150 and the GT 2170 and the blend of support and cushioning made these great shoes. The new GT 2000 is a little different. It is lighter with a smaller profile but is not as supportive as the old GT 2100 series. It still is a nice shoe but it is different and some people may look else where if they want a more supportive shoe. However if you want a lighter weight shoe that gives cushioning and some support the GT 2000 should be considered.

I think Asics took an excellent shoe, the 2170 and its predecessors, and ruined it. If they wanted to make such major changes they should have released a new 2180 and introduce the GT2000 as a new line. The cushioning in the shoe is very hard and is uncomfortable. They have been very difficult to break in and I'll be looking for another brand, after more than 20 years running in Asics shoes.
Best Deals on ASICS Men's GT-2000 Running Shoe
I have owned many pairs of Asics shoes.
I have run in nothing else for years.
I loved the GT-20XX-21XX series.
I loved the wide toe box, the cushioning and support.
I loved that my Fred Flintstone feet fit in them.
Durability was good (not great but good).
If you loved all of these things don't buy this shoe.
Tow box is narrow (even on a 2E) and the taper is now
to fast.
This is a shoe more suited to dainty pointy feet.
I desperately wanted to like them but they gave me blisters
on the pinky toe and put to much pressure on the top of
my foot. I even switched back to my old warn out 2170's hoping
to find that they didn't fit me anymore either and that my
feet were just somehow swollen. But alas my warn out 2170's were
better than the 2000's that replaced it.
They are also now rock hard providing little impact cushion.
If you liked the GT-2170 and its forbears I suggest the
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 13. Just passed 30 miles on my first
pair and it was even better than the 2170's when they were new.
Honest reviews on ASICS Men's GT-2000 Running Shoe
I had bought 2-3 pair of the 2100 series shoes per year for the last 5-6 years for 15-20 miles per week of light running. My first and only run in the new 2000 resulted in knee and back problems that have taken me weeks of workouts (with a different shoe) to eliminate. The heel is narrower on this shoe and the material in the foot bed is more concentrated, spongier, but the result is far less support. Since the injury I can't even walk in them comfortably. Very frustrating as I would have happily kept buying them every year and had great results, but now I've tried this "update" and gotten hurt and will not buy them again. I can't imagine Asics tested these with their loyal customer base before marketing them, as I read all over the net about other runners experiencing similar problems.

I wish I would have read other's reviews before I got excited about a special where I could get the gt-2000's for less than the 2170's. I am a big guy 210 lbs and I need a shoe with a lot of cushioning. I have been using the GT 2150, 2160, and 2170's for 5 years and I have been liking them. Then I bought the GT 2000's and they don't have the same cushioning and aren't as comfortable. I walked in them for weeks and then ran in them for about a month, twice a week, so 8 times. Then I put back on my old gt 2170's and even after 8 months of running, the old worn out gt 2170's felt way better than the brand new gt 2000's. If you like a lighter shoe then go for it, but if you like cushioning, buy the 2170's and hope Asics will make a 2180 like shoe when you can no longer get the 2170's online.
