So I was embarking on a journey where I would find myself in sketchy waters where barefoot is not an option. I set out onto my favorite website, Amazon.com, to search for something I had not owned in 20 years. A water shoe. Little did I know, I would step into a veritable minefield of in-fighting and back biting.

Here is the skinny.

I was rather nervous about this purchase. This was the highest rated shoe available with the median review being something like, "yes I enjoyed it, but it fell apart" or "this shoe broke up my marriage".

I used these pretty heavily in the jungle and at no time did I feel any sole slippage in the shoe (wet or dry) nor did I feel like I was about to lose my footing on rocks, soil or the occasional snake.

Purchase this shoe, take decent care of it and you will be just fine.

I bought these shoes for a trip to Maine that would involve some swimming in a lake and wading in swampy shore areas. After looking at various Speedo models as well as other brands, I saw that some Speedos got poor reviews while the reviews for these shoes seemed ok. Given the reasonable price I thought I'd try them. Big mistake. The first time I wore them they immediately filled up with sand. No big deal, so I dumped them out and rinsed them. Oddly more sand appeared inside so I rinsed them extremely thoroughly. Once again sand appeared. This is exactly what another reviewer mentioned for a different model. After using these shoes for two days of swimming, I brought them home, washed them in the tub since they sort of smelled like a swamp, and found that still more sand was coming out. After examining them I realize that when you remove the insoles, the bottom of the shoe interior is a porous fabric, under which is the plastic, waffle shaped top of the sole. The problem is that the waffle shaped indentations fill up with water, sand, mud, etc. and it all just stays in there. The porous fabric traps it all and it has no place to go since there are no drain holes other than the entry points in the footbed. This design makes no sense in a water shoe. If the sole is not going to have any kind of draining vents, then it should be solid. There is still sand and who knows what else inside the soles of my shoes, even after being washed with detergent and blasted with fresh water in a bathtub. The other drawback of this design is that it is very hard for the inside of the shoes to ever really dry out. You'd really be better off in an open sandal than these things. I urge anyone looking at these to skip speedo and go for another brand that is actually designed to go in the water. Very disappointing product.

I bought these water shoes for my husband who wears 7.5, this product does not come in half sizes. I decided to ordered a size 8 and it was way too big. My husband can fit two fingers in the back of the shoe. The product description should at least suggest whether to go up or down a size for half sizes. The exchange process was not smooth because it states size 7 was out of stock, however when I went back to place new order, size 7 is available. So I ended up returning the size 8 and placing new purchase for size 7. The shoe itself is okay.

My husband is a senior with very weak legs and recently brook his ankle. I bought these shoes for him because they are easy to slip on and have a very stable sole! He loves them. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs easy access with getting their shoes and in need of a stable, study sole!! Thank you!

Water Shoes lasted less than three months and came apart from inside out. I would not buy these shoes again.
