I have owned a pair of Vibram Five Finger shoes for going on 4 years (and still look great). I wore them on and off for casual wear. Love them! Very comfortable, but since I had a grey pair w/ red accents they didn't match everything I like to wear. Fast forward 3+ years and I start the V-Burn Exercise regimen in my Reebok shoes. I start to have severe foot pain, go to the Dr and she says it's Plantar Fasciitis. My foot pain was so bad that even just putting my foot into a pair of tennis shoes made me want to scream. My cousin, a workout guru and fitness geek, says, "Try your Vibrams!" So, I immediately go and pull them out and slip them on, and BAM!!! little to no foot pain! I was astounded!! I immediately got online and ordered two other pairs of Vibrams (a girl has to have choices!!) So I ordered this pair of Bikilas in Magenta/Orange and a Orange/Lime pair of SeeYAs. I love both pair, but prefer the SeeYas for summer, as they are so light and breathable. These are a bit more difficult to put on as the fabric that covers the top of the foot almost meets the ankle. I figure these should work better for winter. I am about to order another pair to go with my skirts and dress pants (in black of course) I am looking at the Entradas. Needless to say, I don't wear tennis shoes anymore!
Some notes on your Vibrams:
*You can machine wash them (and even dry them, although drying them may cause them to come unglued and make them a little snug) So dry at your own risk!! I only do this if I absolutely need the pair I'm washing, like, right now.
*I find that they can get smelly (what shoe doesn't, especially in the deep south) I fight this with Gold Bond foot powder put into the shoe before I first wear them and after washes (make sure they are totally dry). I hear Shoe~Pourri works very well also.
*If you don't mind paying the extra $10+/for a pair of Inji socks, they are wonderful! Makes your shoe easier to get on and also helps control shoe odor.
So all in all, I give Vibram 5 stars. I run in them, walk in them, do chores in them, shop in them, get compliments on them, get laughed at in them (I don't give two figs what they think! I laugh at them cause they have never tried them!) They are awesome and if you have foot problems, get on Vibram's Five Finger website and find your local dealer. Try them on (with an open mind), walk around in them. My son was like "Mom those are so weird, I don't want a pair." I said, "Don't knock it till you try it." We went to the store and tried on a pair. He said, "These are soooooo comfortable!!" and we walk out with two pair for him. This is a teen who is concerned with his image! Yea, he doesn't care anymore either... ;D
