These shoes are surprisingly good, especially for the price.

I've been running with minimal shoes for a couple of years with no injuries (unlike my experience with traditional running shoes). For the past year or so, I've worn Nike Frees, which are a little closer to the center of the minimalist spectrum than the Altra Eves. The Frees have more padding and a raised heel, but are very flexible. The VFF's didn't work out for me: my toes froze in the winter; an imperfect fit led to blisters; I felt every pebble on the road, and they become amazingly stinky surprisingly fast.

The Altra Eves offer protection from glass and pebbles, but have zero drop (the heel is not raised at all), are extremely flexible, and have plenty of room in the toe box.

You can customize the fit with the velcro straps. When I first put them on, they felt snug, even though I ordered a half size up as usual (I wear a 7 1/2 in street shoes and an 8 in running shoes). My big toes seem to be a little cramped. The shoes also felt awkward in general on my feet. But I took a chance and ran just a few miles. They felt great while I was running. They feel light and flexible, not at all too small, so I would say that they're true to size. The lack of padding and the zero drop keeps you honest in terms of running form, or you're bound to hurt your heels and regret it later. If you're really new to minimalist running, you'll probably want to take the advice of the product insert and ease into it slowly to avoid injury.

They're a little weird looking, but I like the way they look. I think they're cute.

I've never tried minimalist type shoes before (other than flip-flops). I got these shoes for a little more protection when walking/working in the yard, going to the park, or walking on rocky beaches.

I have a narrow foot with a high arch so the adjustable, velcro straps appealed to me. I also like the wider toe box, which gives my toes room to spread and grip when walking on uneven terrain.

These shoes are unbelievably light and the sole is completely flexible. You can easily bend the shoe in half. That is partly because the upper is made of a light, stretch fabric. Because of the stretch, it fits perfectly over my high arches without any pressure on the top of my foot.

They also come with two insoles one that is flat and the other with an arch support. This is great for me because the arch supports never hit where my arches are and are always uncomfortable. The flat insoles are perfect for my foot. Also, because this shoe is designed for a woman's foot, the heel is narrower and my foot stays in place.

Even though the materials are all lightweight and flexible, these shoes are still constructed very well. The sole wraps up the sides and over the toes so they do provide support and protection.

I absolutely love wearing these shoes, which is saying a lot because I am barefoot 99% of the time. If you find traditional running shoes uncomfortable or a poor fit for your feet, you might think these are as awesome as I do.

I really like these shoes but the first time I put them on, the tab on the top of the foot that helps you slide them on, broke. As I am too lazy to send them back I'm making due. Other than that, I really do like them.

Honest reviews on Altra Women's Eve Running Shoe

I've been looking for minimalist running shoes to strengthen my arches. This one was recommend in a fitness magazine I subscribe to, and I bought it right away. I do have slightly wide feet, size 9, but normal sneakers fit comfortably. I own Champions, Reebok and Converse and they all fit fine. This pair, however, does fit, but it pinches the toes slightly uncomfortably. When the velcro straps are tight, those are the areas in my feet that have slight discomfort. I walked for about 30 minutes in these shoes and the toes and strap areas even thought they were adjusted to the loosest point.

However, the construction of the shoes seem impressively strong. They are light, and once I train in them I'm hoping they will be broken in enough.

I primarily use these shoes while working out and running.
