Not only do these cleats fit your shoes or boots poorly and allow chunks of snow or ice to get caught between the straps and the soles of your footwear, but the metal spikes themselves wear down to nothing. I used a pair of these to walk my dog for less than a month before the spikes were literally worn even with the little orange plastic things they are set in. If you don't mind wasting money on replacement spikes every few weeks or you'll only use them to get across a parking lot once in a while, then by all means--buy a pair. They do provide better traction on ice than just a regular pair of shoes, but aren't 100% slip-free. There are better options out there.

I would recommend Stabilicers Lite instead. I walked in a pair of those almost every day last winter, about 2-3 miles a day, and the spikes show barely any wear at all. I could walk quickly and confidently, without worrying about falling. The only reason I needed to replace them after a full season of wear is because the rubber started getting a little too stretched out and they were too loose to fit my boots properly anymore.

I bought these as an extra precaution for some of my winter boots that didn't have the kind of grip I wanted for the hardening snow and patches of ice. Not bad. They are a little noisy (I guess this should be expected with metal at the bottom?) Decent deal for the price but nothing extraordinary about them. I don't recommend them for long walks though as the little pegs start to pressure the bottom of your foot after an hour or so.

What a great idea glad I saw these. It sure makes walking the dogs in winter easier. Not practical if you have to take them on then off frequently.

Honest reviews on DryGuy Monster Grips Ice and Snow Traction

I ordered a size lage and Im using the grips on a size 10 rocky hunting boot. The first problem is that the front part always falls off the boot when walking even though they were hard to get on and fit so tight that you can feel the pressure from the grips around the boot. Second is they do not have enough traction for walking on frozen lake with bare ice. If your looking at this product for ice fishing I would not buy, they will not hold up to hardcore hiking. Product might work for city folk who walk around the block.

As a utility arborist, much of my time is spent walking bulk transmission right of way corridors. More than not in the winter months these areas are not maintained nor plowed. An associate of mine wore a set of these Monster Grips and clearly had the advantage, never slipping/falling once while we traversed the hilly work area.

That day I purchased a set for myself and have NOT been disappointed. I wear them several hours per day, and they are comfortable. I try to only wear them when trekking over wintery precip covered surfaces, and much like any cleat never walk on dry pavement to prevent premature wearing of the studs. An occasional jaunt across a small parking lot or street hasn't caused any visible damage. I can't say how the other reviewers who report poor quality treat their cleats, but they appear to be holding up very well for me! I can imagine, like any footwear, dragging one's feet might cause them to grind down.

The cleats don't provide much help in loose powdery snow as one might expect, but on hardened snow or ice, there is no loss of footing, on flat surfaces or on hills.
