Review of Merrell Women's Barefoot River Glove

I used these the River Glove as a multi-purpose shoe in Costa Rica. I used it to do a pretty strenuous hike on volcanic rocks, to white water raft, and to rappel down waterfalls. They were perfect in that they were lightweight, durable, and easy to slip on and off as needed. I would recommend them for any water sports or other lighter walking or shorter hiking distances.

As a barefoot/minimalist shoe wearer these shoes have significantly more support than I am used to. They have arch support and a of sole in the heal. I plan on wearing them to Costa Rica for a month so I am hoping it goes well but not happy about how supportive these shoes are for my barefoot feet. Also just wearing them around the house, etc. to break them in and my feet sweat in them so that is not good either. They are comfortable, cute and I like the two strap options.

I was a bit reluctant to spend this much money on a "water shoe"; however, these are more like a tech sandal that can get wet. I wear them frequently and get many compliments! They are very comfortable and true to size.

I usually wear a 8.5 or a 9. This was a bit bigger than expected, but the strap at the back kept the shoes from falling off. The stitching on the inside rubbed against the beginning of the arch of my left foot. I had to wear thin socks the next time I wore them to minimize the irritation, but maybe it is just due to the fit. Very cute looking shoes. Love the dual purpose for both dry and wet terrain.

I wear a size 9 and ordered a size 9 but it fits a little snug. I had them on for a whole day and my toes seemed to be touching the front of the shoe. Not horrible but a bit uncomfortable. I would suggest getting a 1/2 size larger.
