I've had three pairs of the Avia A344 model shoe. I don't like laces and only walk. The first pair split at the seams (little wear on the soles) but I kept using them as they were comfortable. When I took an assignment back east, my wife bought me two new pairs and in less than four months, the first pair also split at the seams (both sides, outer side worse than inner). I haven't worn the other pair much but checked them last night and they haven't split but I can see where it is about to. Thus, I would steer clear of these shoes. They're comfortable and they look great but they don't last for diddly; I would say the pair I'm wearing now has about 50 miles on them while the other pair has less than 20. Considering that the pair with about 50 miles has no visible wear on the soles, that's not very good.

It has been awhile sionce I have been able to find any decent walking shoes that are not lace up! I do miss the NIKE version!

These fit well and seem to not need a real "break-in" period, at all!

I prefer an air cushion sole, but these are close enough for my daily mile walks!

Quality seems to be OK, but time will tell. (The strap versions I have been getting at Wal-Mart, stor brand, do not last very long)

These are usually popular with the Senior Citizen set and I definitely like/need them that way!

Ordered this shoe in my regular size 12, but the front of the shoes are way too tight, actually hurt my toes, so I returned it.

The differences between different shoe brands for the "same" size makes it difficult to order by mail. Normally I take a 12 medium in sports shoes. I ordered a walking shoe from another (not-Avia) company recently and it was too loose. This Avia shoe was great in all respects except that it was short in the toe. This was a surprise because I had settled on Avia after going through several other manufacturers over the years for my tennis shoes (actually cross-trainers) because they were the most comfortable by far for my feet. I guess even within the same brand, there can be manufacturing variations. In the future I will go back to a brick and mortar shoes store to try them on before purchase.

If you order a pair of these, I would suggest ordering a pair plus one half size larger. I have worn size 9 1/2 for 70 years, should have ordered size 10. Didn't notice until I had walked about 50 ft in them. To late to return or exchange them then. Otherwise

they appear to be well constructed.
