We bought this for our six year old daughter as it is a color that is allowed at her school. It seems to be very difficult to find navy blue tennis shoe that meets the criteria & that my daughter liked. She has been wearing this shoe for about week & just loves it--it fits and is comfortable. We bought it 1/2 size smaller than normal--a 1.5 instead of a 2 that she usually wears, and that seems to be perfect. It was a bit high priced, but if it continues to stand up & the odor guard continues to work as well as it has so far, it is worth the price. (Being an active child, our daughter goes through cheaper shoes rapidly, especially with a dress code at school.)

My daughter is very picky about comfort when it comes to her clothes and shoes. When she was 5, I took her to a local kids' shoe store and she tried on every pair of athletic shoes they had in her size. She liked these the best. That was several years ago and we have been buying them here ever since. She wears them every day, and I have a very hard time getting her to wear anything else (sandals, dress-up shoes) even for special occasions. These are comfortable, lightweight, solid shoes. I hope they are always available! I feel good letting her wear them because they are high quality.

This is our third pair of this sneaker for good reason -my daughter wears each pair until she outgrows it, and the shoes are still going strong even when that happens.

Important things to note:

1) These shoes run large, but not as much as some Tsukihoshi styles. My daughter currently wears a 13.5-1 youth size, and a size 1 of this shoe offers a TON of growing room. In fact, she can still squeeze into the size 12.5 of this shoe but will wear a 1 comfortably, especially with thicker socks.

2) These shoes are machine washable! They do well through many, many washes. I leave them on top of the washer to dry for a day or two after each wash, and they look great after a wash. No funky crunchiness or size changing like some kids' "washable" shoes.

3) If your kids like to wear shoes without socks, as mine always seem to prefer, these will develop that certain stinky foot odor. That's why machine washability is so key! Fortunately, washing helps get the odor out very well.
