From the minute I tried them on, my feet felt fantastic ("they run small", they advised me, so I tried on the next half-size up, and they were right). I wore them all through my travels, then and now, and have been continuously amazed at how well they are holding up, no matter what I put them through. I don't know how they do it, but they continue to look brand new.
On my trip in '08, I trudged countless hot, steamy cement sidewalks in unfamiliar towns, and also had to move quickly on steep and sometimes slippery trails, covering lots of terrain. Throughout it all, whether in city or country, my feet remained cool and comfortable, and I was always able to go on. Now that I am on my home turf, this is where I thought I'd find limitations... Last summer in '09, my leather boots stayed in the closet, they never saw daylight. Now that it's winter, I do have and use hardcore snow boots, yet I've been using these equally as often, depending on the circumstances. They do keep my feet plenty warm down to minus degrees if I wear several layers of socks. I still play it safe, and do wear them with ice grippers for added traction.
And speaking of traction, the soles alone are a marvel. They have the best combination of knobs and diamond shapes and ridges and angles I've seen. I dare to make moves I might shy away from in other footwear. Wearing them on rocky and rugged terrain, and when on gravel or sand, they stabilize my balance better than any other boot. The tag insert says "Sticky Non-Marking Outsoles with Multi-Directional Lug Patterns". In addition, no matter how long I wear them, I have yet to experience any rubbing, blisters, callouses or any other kind of discomfort. It seems to have something to do with the way they are constructed. Again, from the tag insert: "Multi-Density Anatomically Correct Insoles 3-D Molded External Heel Counter Multi-Density Propulsion From Midsoles Radial fit System Engineered Integration of Upper and Bottom. Maximized Foot Control & Stability". The tag also says "Oboz will plant a tree with the purchase of these boots, in partnership with Trees for the Future". Planet Earth gets to benefit, as well.
And while I'm wearing them, my feet feel, well, embraced ~ quite simply, it's the best explanation I have. I have high hopes for their continual use, for a very long time to come.

September 2010. Oboz has now phased out the colors of the boot I bought. They're not the same as the image that was displayed when I wrote the review. The one's I'm wearing are multi-colored, with muted greens, grays, and a touch of rose on the tongue. My well-used boots are as fine an experience as ever. I still wear them every day. They still have all their knobs and ridges, still perform flawlessly, and remain waterproof. Now I own and enjoy another Oboz boot (the rugged Wind River BDry Hiking Boot, for deep winter excursions), and found out they run more true-to-size now. My respect for the company's high standards continues on.

September 2013, and it's now been FIVE years since buying them. Just came in from another adventurous day, and my admiration for these boots keeps on growing. Just took them off after going out all afternoon, ankle-deep for hours in seaweed, then up several remote trails to take photos (a rare rainbow over a glacier), then to work in the garden for another few hours. Constant rain and muddy trails today. On the outside, the boots look soggy and wet, bedraggled, yet my feet remain incredibly toasty-warm and dry. The soles are just beginning to show signs of wear now, but still there's an abundance of traction, I'm glad to say, for at least another season (or two or three) of work and play.

So I purchased these shoes for my hiking trip. I first visited REI and they helped me choose most comfortable shoes. I tried many brands and this worked well with my narrow feet. The shoes were Perfect. Going down or up the hill my heel and toes were very comfortable. They didn't slam against the front or back of the shoe. In addition to this my ankle was protected. We hiked every day for 8 days, and my feet were not tired at all. Also Make sure you purchase good socks for the shoes. I love my Oboz boots! they are as comfortable as they look! No break in period! Good looking high quality boots!!! These are my favorite boots and I wear them often!Honest reviews on Oboz Women's Yellowstone BDRY Multisport Mid Cut Boot
I researched long and hard for these and thanks to other reviewers I went for it! I am so glad I did! Today I received my second pair as I've finally retired my first ones. I wore the heck out of these boots for a year in all kinds of urban and office environments as well as mucky, muddy, watery environments and they handle it all. I wear them around town, to work and they are my go to shoe for outdoor work (yard mowing and the like). Great fit, great soles with gripping power and there was no breaking in period.I loved the boots so much that last year I also bought Oboz Women's Firebrand II BDRY Mulitsport Shoe and it's the same thing with these. They handle it all. The BDRY characteristics of OBOZ boots make them a bit stinky so this time around I am being diligent about airing them out. These also clean-up well with a shoe brush and/or a quick wipe down. I also gave these a spray of Kiwi Protect All as a little more water-resistance and protection against dirt and grime while on the job.
Thank you OBOZ!
