I've been a long time fan of Asic for road shoes. The Gel Attack is light with an aggressive tread, traits that I like in a trail shoe. However this latest model, the 7, seems narrower than usual up front compared to most Asics models. I usually get the standard medium width in Asics, but these I wish I had gone wider. I don't have too many miles on them yet, so I can't speak to the durability. I had issues with the Attack model 6's I had previously. I wore holes in both of them above both big toes, something that normally isn't an issue with me. Asics should beef up the fabric in that area.ASICS Men's GEL-Trail Attack 7 Trail Running Shoe Review

I bought these to run Tough Mudder. I was looking for shoes with good protection and traction and these deliver on both counts. I spent 4 1/2 hrs. going up and down muddy slick rocky hills and never slipped. The tread pattern on these shoes gives you stunning grip and stability. They also have a protection plate under the forefoot to protect from punctures or rocks which is nice. The only down side I see is they are not the lightest or most flexible shoes, but I guess its a trade off for protection. If you run in rough terrain or wet muddy conditions you wont find a better shoe.
