I purchased these shoes for four reasons. 1. I have had great luck with New Balance shoes. 2. I loved the blue and grey color. 3. They were lightweight. 4. They were very comfortable. Within two weeks, I noticed the right shoe had a squeak which got progressively worse. A few days later, I noticed the sole was coming off. A day later, I noticed the sole was coming off the left shoe. I have never had shoes of any brand fall apart like these. I can still wear them, but I have to be very careful when taking them off so I don't pull the soles the rest of the way off. Is this the type of quality New Balance has now? I sure hope not because I have been more than pleased with the quality vs. dollar value of my past NB purchases.

EDIT: I contacted New Balance a few months back about these shoes. They told me to send them in and they would replace them. Their customer service was great. They let me choose another pair of similar cost. I ended up with their 770 V2 which has been a fine pair of shoes for a couple months. I wear them almost every day and have noticed no wear. Every company will have a dud every once in a while. My bad experience with this shoe has ended up being a good experience. New Balance is still at the top of my list of shoes to purchase.

These shoes are not up to New Balance normal standards. On my last pair the sole cam unglued from the boot part after 6 months or so. I figured any company can have a clunker so I ordered another pair.

After wearing them less than a month, and only indoors and to and from work, the same delamination happened on the second pair. I am working with NB to replace them with a different model now.

Check out the NB web site. They are discontinued. Now you know why.

It's a real shame, the shoes were LIGHT and comfortable.

I used to run 20 miles a week but then I hurt my left knee. I tried all other running shoes including adidas, reebok, nike and asics while still hurting my knees. I could barely run 10 miles if not walking. Then I met these shoes. I never feel any pain on my knee again and I'm back running. Thanks New Balance!

Honest reviews on New Balance Men's M690 Running Shoe

I run about 15 miles a week, and have a mid to forefoot foot strike. I bought this shoe due to a really good sale price and it was comfortable, but not as a primary running shoe. Once my primary shoe lost its use, I used the m690. I was not disappointed. Very comfortable on runs up to 5 miles, which is about the most distance I do. The shoe is super durable, too. After months of using it as my running shoe, I used it during the Tough Mudder race with the intent of tossing it after the race...but it held up fine through all the mud and puddles. So I used it for the Rugged Maniac race with the intent of tossing it, but it held up fine, once again. This shoe has been through the washing machine probably 10 times; I also have used it playing various recreational field sports in the mud and wet which has soaked the shoe through (yes, I need to seriously get some cleats). Great shoe. Just wish I could decipher New Balance's nomenclature code to know what new shoe has replaced this one, so I could get it again, because the tread is finally wearing flat. Great shoe.

not much to say. Wore them in the mornings to jog 3 times a week. Now the bottom is coming off. Maybe your pair will be better than mine but just FYI. New balance is not what it use to be.
