I bought these shoes to wear on hikes in Norway. They were the most comfortable shoes I have every worn. We did a lot of walking in numerous cities in Norway and they held up great. They were especially comfortable on our flight to Amsterdam as they could be loosened easily and were easy to take off going through security at the airport. It rained a lot during our trip and being waterproof was a great asset. I am a volunteer state park docent and wear these shoes all the time. I have more traditional hiking boots that I don't use since getting these shoes. Be sure to have them fitted correctly. Don't buy them too small since you can tighten these shoes as needed. You should buy these shoes a half size larger than your regular shoe size. They are an excellent value!

The Salmon XA Pro 3D Ultra Trail running shoes replaced the Vasque Velocity. The Salomon's have performed well, holding up to the light trail conditions that I typically run/walk on. The Gore XCR works well and have not had any problems with overheating. I especially like the Salomon heels, where they flare slightly and seem to give signficantly more stability than typical trail runners.
Overall, a good product, a bit pricey, but they pack in alot of technology.

This is my third pair of these. They are comfortable shoes with the emnphasis on sturdy construction and stiff midsole. I use shoes hard and generally wear them out very quickly, but these will take a lot of abuse before giving out. You can walk on rocky trails with these because the sole and midsole are strong enough to protect and support your feet. They are good for mountain biking also. The lacing system is very effective and quick, and if you break them they are replaceable at any Salomon dealer.

I have numerous pairs of Salomon shoes and boots. This is my fourth pair of XA Pro 3D Ultra GTX in the past several years. They fit like a glove and the sizing is always consistent. Never had an issue with the lacing on any Salomon shoe. My biggest beef with this particular model of shoe is that they wear out a little too quickly on the top of the forefoot, where the shoe bends. The lining at the back of the heel also wears quickly I think. I put lots of miles on shoes though.
