I ran my 1st marathon in the Speedstar 4's and can recall putting them on a few weeks before the run and being so dissapointed that I hadnt purchased them earlier in my training. I had been running in the Asics Cumulus and Asics Nimbus models for years, and these were noticeabley much lighter from the second I put them on my feet. My strides were lighter and faster. Im now in the Speedstar 6's, and still very happy with these sneakers.

It's also worth mentioning I have had knee problems for years, so I was skeptical about having less cushion in my sneaker. No problems whatsoever in that regard.

As for the sizing, this style is no different for me than other Asics in the past. Im always an 8.5. Love the Speedstars!

I read another review that said there was a strong chemical smell to this shoe. It's true; probably because the shoe is mostly a soft plastic material. That's not a fabric mesh you see in the pic, it's plastic, or rubber. There is a strong smell, but I've had them 2 days, and they're already airing out.

I've used Nike for years, but decided to try something new. I tested other ASICS shoes, and as a rule, I'd say they run narrow. I had to buy a 1/2 size up. These shoes, however, seem to be a little more roomy through the top, for my high arches, AND they felt really stable on my first run! I've read some other reviewers say that these shoes were lightweight and added speed to their run this is true for me as well. Also, I didn't get too much skin irritation or blistering trying to break them in. That was nice. The shoelaces are too small to lace them up all the way, however, so they kept coming untied during my run. Overall, great for running for the high arched foot which the ASICS website verifies:

Last year I bought the Speedstar 5 and I was really happy with it. The speedstar 6 is a comfortable shoe that doesn't need to be broken in. Perfect fit from day 1! I just ran a half marathon and I felt great!

Very little arch support! Light weight but not good support at all if you need it! Not worth my money, would rather spend a little more for Nike Shox.

I never run in any shoes other than Asics. I saw this shoe online and fell in love with the colors (I got the yellow and turquoise). The reviews were good so decided to purchase. Here is what I found:

1) The style is awesome. Cool colors and sleek design

2) I normally wear a 7.5 in all Asics...EXCEPT this one. This shoe runs big so I highly recommend going a half size down. The size 7 fits perfectly.

3) This is not a great running shoe. Very little cushioning compared to the Nimbus. My legs ache after I run.

If you are a big runner, I don't recommend these. They are perfect for walking or other lighter activities.
