I use the Treksport Sandal for light hikes and any kind of everyday outdoor use in summer. Close to barefoot feeling with the right protection for the feet. If you are not used to this kind of shoes, it will take some time for yourself and your feet to adjust. It is worth doing so. After a knee injury (from running in "normal" running shoes) and the advise from the MDs to walk and run more barefoot, I find, after 2yrs of doing so, this is a great way to go. No knee or back problems ever since... amazing!

Second pair of fivefingers, first pair was the KSO which I have had for about three years now. The new treksport sandal has big shoes to fill in durability in comparison to the KSO. So far they are great though, really comfortable and light. They fit to the foot better than the KSO because of the lacing system rather than the strap. I have enjoyed other five-fingers over the past few years (KSO, Speed), but I was looking for a summer shoe that I could easily put on and take off for everyday use. These were perfect--believe it or not I can almost slip them on hands-free like other sandals. I think the key is the treksport sole, which is a little more substantial than the speed or bikalas. They are stiff enough that you can slide your toes in easily on the first try, and then the heal and quick lace system make it easy to get them snug.One other benefit is they're appearance. If you are concerned at all about people doing double-takes on your shoes (as they might with some of other, brighter colored five fingers), these prompt no such responses. On first glance they look like any other summer sports sandal.
I was surprised to find that they are now one of my preferred summer running shoes. They're great because the vents really keep your feet cool. The treads are solid for running on grass and dirt, although I would caution against using these as "off-road" shoes and getting into too much muck because the vents let in small gravel and dirt (this is my only complaint, but has really only affected me one or two times). Overall I highly recommend them.
