This is our second pair of Tsukihoshi shoes for our son. He has large feet, including wide and thick. When he was a year old, he did well with Stride Rite. We've tried a few different brands that offer larger widths, but here's why we are sticking with Tsukihoshi for now.

1) The way the side of the shoe adjusts as you clasp the velcro acts like a custom fit around the middle of the foot, like a ski boot. We tried some cool looking, extra wide Puma's between his first and second pair of Tsukihoshi's. After his first day in the Puma's, he wasn't near as active and there were marks on the tops of his feet where they were too tight. Thankfully, Nordstom's was really cool about returning them and we bought his second pair of Tsukihoshi's. Our son was back to jumping and running around like his normal self the very next day.

2) The shoes have support and cushion in line with the advice given to me by my orthopedic surgeon. I was really impressed that a toddler shoe met those criteria. For example, support: turning the shoe perpendicular to the ground and push on the heel; the shoe should flex about a third of the way from the front, but not bend easily in the middle.

3) The width accommodates wide feet.

4) We've been very happy with the quality. They seemed to be of good quality in the store and have held up great ever since. He'd still be wearing the first pair of Tsukihoshi's had he not outgrown them. He's had the current ones for five months without any problems.

5) They are very easy to put on, even our 2 year old puts them on by himself without any problem. Markedly different from our experience with other shoes where you have to cram until ther's a slip and then tie or velcro. Again, the clasping mechanism is very slick. And, they fit snug and secure.

I'm glad Amazon is now offering these shoes. I'll be putting in an order for the next size up soon.

This is my daughter's 4th or 5th pair of Tsukihoshi's (I'm afraid I lost track!) and I am just as happy with these as I have been with every other pair. They are comfortable for my kids, they fit well and they LAST. We are yet to wear out a pair even though my kids are hard on their shoes. They wash amazingly well (just throw them in the washer...and I have dried them in a pinch even though the instructions say not to) and don't wear out. These are fabulous and since Amazon was offering free return shipping I wasn't concerned about trying to make sure I ordered the right size. Great purchase.

Tsukihoshi has been the shoe of choice for our daughters....I would recommend any of them to kids. They fit perfect and look good. they also hold up to everyday wear.
