I bought these silver on black New Balance 740 size 4's at the start of the '10 school yr for my actve 7 year old 2nd grade boy. Within the 2nd week of school in Aug, the soles separated and chunks started carving out from the bottoms of both shoes. By the middle of Sept, the rubber pieces were flapping from the sides and the bottoms were down to mostly foam on the balls of both feet. As compared to other New Balance kids shoes, these turned out to be the most poorly made and held up the least of all that we've owned (and I've got 3 boys, and my husband and I are both runners). Although the colors are cool, I do not recommend these shoes.

The bottom rubber keeps coming apart. Had to go to shoemaker to glue back together. Real low quality.

My 9 yr old loves these sneakers and they were wide enough so she is very comfortable! I love them too! She's going to go out for track and these are good running shoes.
