I usually really like Asics, I have run in the Kayanos for years and loved those shoes. These shoes for some reason have an elastic band near the toe that constricts the 'knuckles' of your feet together. I don't know why they designed these shoes this way, but they are extremely uncomfortable. Even just to sit down there is a constriction on your feet that has no reason to be there. I do not have wide feet nor any other problems with any other shoes.

I was hooked from the moment I tried on these shoes. OK they are a bit pricey, I took some flak from the wife over that. Against my better judgement I wore them on a 57km trail run on the first use. I was that confident that they would be awesome. A bit committing, but no blisters, no chafing and my feet feel great. The ONLY problem was my toenail on my 2nd toe (which admittedly is as long as my big toe) was a tad sore from hitting the end of the shoe on the downhills. A small price to pay for such comfort and stability. I love the lacing and fit. As I have a pretty narrow fit, I seem to usually have to tighten the laces until the shoe looks a bit puckered to get a snug fit. These are awesome, and the tongue has a bit more padding to keep the laces from getting a "biting" feel on the top of the foot. I would highly recommend these shoes to anyone who wants a smooth ride.

What a great pair of shoes this one has been for me. I'm mainly an off road runner and this product has been totally effective on all kinds of environments such as hills, mud, grass etc. Developed some blisters and bubbles the first couple weeks which is totally normal for me for every new pair of shoes that I buy. Love the little sack on top of the tongue which allows me to "lock" my shoe laces and run carefree.

I have been wearing the Gel-Nimbus for the last 7yrs. Finally decided to try a different shoe. I ordered this shoe and the Gel-Blur33 2.0. Hands down this shoe felt and looked better. The construction on the Blur felt cheap and almost plastic like.

I worn these on virginia hard clay packed trails, a few boulder scrambles (both in dry and wet conditions) and I have to say the grip is fantastic and the shoes have held up well.

Two complaints:

1) They are somewhat slippery on waxed linoleum floors like in an office building.

2) Shoe strings come undone. Double, triple knotted, they always come undone.

I've worn the Gel-trail Sensor 5 shoes around for a month or two, and recently did a wet weather 40+ miler. These are well made shoes, and comfortable. I had no complaints with them for non running activities. The toe box is wide, they breath well and are not designed to keep your foot dry. My feet felt comfortable in them. I am primarily a race walker and jogger. My style is to add an additional inner sole for added running comfort. I was satisfied with the Sensor's performance over a 40+ miler road run. My main problem was that they had the urge to slip on wet surfaces, and there seemed to be little grip over wet concrete or asphalt. I was running with a group and others were not having the same slipping and sliding problem to the degree I was. However the breathable fabric in the forefoot allowed my feet to dry fairly quickly when I was forced into running water torrents. I had no problems with the Sensor over dry ground, and no foot problems developed over the 40+ miles. I don't know if I'd buy the Sensor 5 again. The slipping problem is a major concern for me. But I'm going to continue to wear this pair on long road runs, which is what I bought them for. I may take them up on some steep roots, rocks, and mud trails just to see how they do, as they are supposed to be trail runners. If you can find these shoes at a good price they may serve your purpose.
