I'm new to icy conditions just having moved from Florida to Iowa. Someone recommended that I get some traction aids for my shoes. I picked up a pair last night but didn't try them until tonight. I just took the trash out and nearly fell on the icy concrete. I left the trash outside and went back to my apartment for my traction aids. I was very hesitant stepping out on the icy concrete again, but I didn't slip at all. I was totally stable.
The aids are easy to put on and take off. They are light, and they'd be easy to put in your pocket when you aren't wearing them. A tip from a friend: make sure you take them off when you get inside because the spikes can be slippery on tile floors.

My husband bought these for me for a present. I run in the winter in snow & icy trails. My first trail run resulted in losing 3 traction aids spikes from one. I used the 2 replacements that came with the product. My next trail run resulted in loosing 4 more spikes. We have no shortage of ice & snow and these did give some traction, however, at the rate the spikes disappear while doing the activity the were meant for it is very short lived and not a worthwhile purchase. I was initially very excited as these are easy to pull on and use. I would not recommend unless you have an unlimited supply of replacement spikes. Bummed out.
